Such a nonsense. Have you ever copied a football or a board game? Are you even able to make a 1:1 copy? No. So why is this not the same as DRM. The friend who played and liked Monoply will eventually buy the game, but nobodoy will copy and can copy something like a board game well. Copying a football is even a harder task.
There are many ways you can share video games without piracy. Local online play, taking turns using the controller in a single player game, borrow the physical copy to a friend and on some platforms like PS4 you can even share the games online. There is no difference to a football or a boardgame.

Have you thought for a moment, that I have alluded to this by bringing up that every general purpose computer is a copy mashine?

But - not everyone that plays a boardgame eventually buys a boardgame - and not everyone that plays football buys a football. Not everyone that reads a "newspaper" (= papery blog) buys the newspaper, not everyone that experiences art buys art, ...

I understand, that from the industries point of view, perfect copies are an issue. But thats what physical copies "premium editions", boxart and so on are about (at least before the industry turned them into "superfan attire" to make even more profit) - to foster the idea, that you are not getting the "perfect copy" of the product they are selling.

The point is not, that piracy is good (per se), and that it should be condoned - the point is, that an industry where everyone "has to buy a product" hardly ever exists. When DRM and digital copies become more and more about "controlling the access" than about making sure you get a fair deal (leave space for stuff to get traded, lent, borrowed, curated, ..) strangely - piracy becomes more and more ambivalent in nature.

Remember the Nintendo that told us "pirates were a bane to all our existence", then turned around and used pirated (and thereby curated) roms to make their NES retro "experience"? Which was a carbon copy of the concept of a cheap SOC that can be used as an emulator box?

Also - do you always want to play the "waiting for the Secret of Mana Remake" game, so you can experience the game again, when the hardware thats supposed to play older games isnt widely available anymore? How about when the servers you get your digital copies from are turned off?

So instead of homing in on "perfect copies" (the only evolutionary step the entire entertainment industry ever was confronted with, and they complained for years on end...) lets look at my previous posting again - and look at the arguments in this one - and then maybe end up at "piracy is an ambivalent thing".

I just dont buy the "everyone adhering to DRM is the only thing that defines entertainment products nowadays" angle. Especially since the civil lawsuit you'd bring up against a sole "consumer" (as in does not propagate copies) of piracy will be thrown out by pretty much every court there is. (They simply dont have the capacity.) Regardless of what the cinema ads told every person in my agegroup.

That thing about "not knowing anything about piracy - openly" is a concession to the industry by the way - the idea is to not make the "piracy experience" too frictionless. Which is important. But moral outrage against people who "talk about the concept and thereby are condoning it" suggests, that there should be a moral taboo in place. Well - its actually a very hard thing to argue for when -

- the entire entertainment industry never worked this way before ("everyone has to buy a copy")
- the parts that DRM implements and prevents are what actually constitutes "culture" (lending, borrowing, gifting, sharing, trading, ..)
- there have always been exceptions for the not so financially affluent (that were not "go play a f2p game, Kenny")
- part of what piracy does is to ensure, that experiences are attainable long after they have seized to be financially viable for a company
- the idea of entertainment culture being a *managed by companies* thing in its entirety (digtial distribution on closed systems, Disney entertainment parks, now with more "Star Wars license") is highly questionable (MS "digital distribution first fiasco with the XBOX One launch" - "But we already had deals with our distributers, ...").
- the industry acknowledges this ("play for free If you must") with concepts like f2p, but those are morally despicable - and are praying on the addiction prone gaming population and limitless spending as business models, while setting up reward loops that are designed to hook them. ("Nintendo started as a playing card company.")

I think I can make actually more arguments for why DRM in itself is a manufactured atrocity and perversion than why "unlicensed distribution" is always a bad thing exclusively. :)

That said, if it becomes too easy - it breaks businessmodels. Because every general purpose computer is a perfect copy machine. Now lets all buy entertainment subscriptions. Yay! (Because industry says so (this time - with the exception of Nintendo, but they are working on it.). :)

Now - subscriptions are a racket that pray on human behavior by weaving a business model around the idea, that people "might get use out of it eventually" - when most of the time, they are paying for what we call "empty spending" - and that they much rather do nothing than to actually cancel one - if it doesnt impact their leisure spending budget too much. But thats morally good - because... ;) (Now I dont say anything against theatre subscriptions, but those are industries that can only exist because of "patron" models. Blockbuster entertainment on the other hand, .. ;) )

Here is a video about the video game grey markets in Brazil. Bunch of communists, I say.

I always wondered, how come Retro City Rampage DX which it requires your firmware to be updated to 3.0.1 gets dumped, but not other games like Fire Emblem Warriors?
Did they tested a updated version of exploit?

1. You know nobody is going to read that ridiculous wall of text
2. "American visits 3rd world country" video hahhaha lol

It's so annoying that every single hacking thread related to a new console turns into a piracy talk. Give it a rest... go to reddit or something.

I am actually curious as well... You would need a hardware modification of some kind to dump the ROM.

For now the reswitched team has savegame transfer from one console to another(also edit ) and carts dumps but is keeping private because Nintendo didnt patch some bugs
It would be so cool if someday we would be abble to transfer savegames to a non hacked Switch. That way I could save my trapped Zelda savegame from my 2.2.0 Switch.

Just to be clear, as I don't wanna read 37 pages here: Is there anything useful that could be done with Switch dumps yet?

No. If there were? We'd have thousands of threads with people complaining who couldn't follow a guide.
