That solution I've heard is formating the Switches memory stick on 3.0 which is what I did not wanna do as some of my games were downloaded, you had to go through a recovery menu.

You don't have to format it. Just going into the recovery menu deletes the downloaded update. So if you put your switch in airplane mode before that, the nag is gone.

I'm looking into my crystal ball and i'm seeing: Team Xecuter admired by switch early adopters who have been waiting for a hacking solution since day 1. Universal praise all around for their hard work in implementing public announced exploits and progressing the scene. Team Xecuter continuing to be innovative and supporting their products with regular updates with new features.

2 years later: Homebrew devs start getting their heads around the Switch, free piracy/homebrew solutions are released. A flood of late-to-the-party Switch owners join the forum and pollute it with constant complaining, whining and unanimous condemning of Team Xecuter, completely disregarding the fact that without the teams initial baby steps, the scene wouldn't have progressed as far as it has in the present day.

Hmm, this sounds familiar, doesn't it?

They are constantly saying that they are strictly against piracy in the first place. And xecuter is going to sell access to piracy. That's what pisses them off.

That is pretty lame actually. Making profit off of Nintendo for pirating their games

Same reason RGH and JTAG stood the test of time. JTAG was stomped out with hardware revisions. Which lead to RGH which lead to more hardware revisions.

As for future proof, they haven't said it can't be fixed with a hardware revision, in fact they've given us very little... But time will tell.

I see 2 sides to every post here... Man made it, man can break it. Or this isn't this or this isn't that, it's secure it's not the Xbox etc. Back when hard mods were it, everybody believed. The hardmod scene didn't have all this crap because the internet was in its infancy. Now you have a team that has been around since that time telling you they have something and it's good. So tell your neighbours, tell your friends and open up a mod shop because there's money to be made!

And a side note to everyone who can/has modded before this is great. Hardmods are so much more fun

JTAG was disabled with a simple kernel update.
There's nothing hardware wise that prevents the JTAG hack.

The golden rule is if it's out of print it's fair game. The Switch is slated to be the most successful console, but if everyone hacks their consoles to play new releases for free developers will drop it like a hot turd.

People said this about the PSP, the Vita, and the DS when piracy methods came out for it. People keep saying this when the PC has shittons of ports and indie games on it despite rampant software piracy. I think this is an unfair assumption to make.

Drop it for what? There's no alternative. Sega's not gonna drop the Game Gear 2 tomorrow and Nintendo isn't going to drop an alternative system. It's already the fastest selling console ever, piracy will not kill the switch (or any other console for that matter). It's already trivial for them to develop for multiple consoles (including the switch) as it supports the most popular game engines (here's a huge list of them). Anyone developing a game under one of them has a huge incentive to port it to the Switch, as its going to be a low effort high return situation.

After the whole "get on 3.0, stay on 3.0" when 1.0 is the prime firmware bit, I have no hard feelings toward an option that opens up all firmware. I don't feel that pushing people toward 3.0 from lower cfw-capable firmware is right. I bought mine on 3.0 and I'm leaving it on 3.0 until something better comes. All I'm saying, is that showing all the neat things that 1.0 can do, and then telling people to get 3.0, while being vague about needing 1.0 to do those neat things, is not very "ethical". Unless I missed something. I'm willing to admit being wrong, if I'm wrong.

Can you point out some drama that goes beyond "this is dumb, acting like this is dumb?" Because then you yourself are creating drama by this standard. I don't see any lynchmobs, boycotts, or anything of the sort. Just "these people shouldn't be mad about piracy because it's inevitable"
