I gotta say the same, too. Wasn't R4 a massive plague on the DS market when it came out? I mean, it wasn't a modchip but it WAS super easy to use since it was just a flashcart. And 3rd party devs up and left so garbageware came in and filled the void. I DEFINITELY do not want that happening to the Switch. Modchips mean not many people are gonna be using them which is a good thing, but if it does get widespread then it's just going to make things worse for everyone. If we lose out on game devs due to piracy scaring people off, then no one gets good games to even pirate, thus making the whole thing moot. Add in piracy before all the games are on the system and make it easy for people to do and no one will have games in the end.

R4 had no bearing on quality of games. Not sure where you got that.

DS wasnt the fastest selling console on the planet in history was it compared to the switch: https://www.polygon.com/2018/1/4/16849094/nintendo-switch-sales-numbers and game developers wont be put off for this reason alone

That's a myth, piracy/hacking never has and never will deter development or kill console sales. And before you use the Dreamcast as an example of piracy killing off a console, remember that Sega's own f**k ups and bad mistakes were the cause of its downfall.

I thinks there's way more ppl paying for games now than a few years ago...

Anyway I can't afford most games, I have a big list of games I want for PC and PS4 already and last game I bought for PC cost 1.5 EUR and last game I bought for the PS4 was GT Sport that I was waiting for years. My PS4 was even OFF for more than half a year since I can't just buy new games for it...

I buy a game for my PC like 1 or 2 per year and most are indie and cheap. I prefer realistic games and simulators and I would never waste like a week of salary on a super Mario game...

Ps: so yeah piracy all the way while I can, else I will probably stop wasting years of my money savings on PCs and consoles and waste it on other things like flying with my RC planes or other fun crap to do out there on the real world...

I think modding a console will lead to piracy no matter what. You can't get mad when people use homebrew for piracy. If you are the gatekeeper, how can you be mad, when you opened the gate?

so the eventual hack that required 3.0 or lower will eventually lead to piracy, team xecuters work will eventually lead to piracy, WTF IS YOUR POINT? holy crap the envy/jealousy is through the roof xD from assuming/claiming that they just flat out stole pluto/early devs work to spewing baseless accusations "oh no this will lead to piracy" i can't stand the fakeness, this is only making team xecuter look much better and making the people behind the old exploit look like a bunch of salty splatoons

they want to control the release of exploits so they can delay piracy or major exploits as much as they want. If a third party team releases something else, it brings piracy, which hurts the system. (and they even charge for it)

For every Dreamcast a user brings up as a point, I add up a Wii, a PSP and a 3DS as countermeasure.

Piracy hurting a system is nothing but bs.
Most end users know next to jackshit about soft/hardmods and it's only a small percentage of the userbase which does.

Please no more piracy crap.
I've had it with this motherfucking piracy in this motherfucking thread!

I can't see what is the commotion here.

Because they did it for money? Well, old news. We already done that since GBA, it nothing new to sell hacking device on Nintendo handheld. And we already know eventually cfw will obsolete them.

Because they steal the hack? It is just some hacker speculate for now. No hard prove whatsoever. And even if they do, remember how 3DS cfw was first "leaked"? I appreciate the responsible hacker for making them but keep them for yourself and teasing pirates? Don't expect them to be on your side when shit happen.

Because piracy? Cry more, anti-piracy. You lose, go home. And tbh, there is more ugly way to do this. With this mod chip they claim to be making, it actually difficult for most end-user to got they hand on it. Save your tear for when full-blown cfw will eventually come and everyone can just push their sd card in, run some program and jobs done.
