Does anyone know if Amazon makes their console + game bundles just-in-time when you place your order or if they are pre-packed and thus have a higher chance of being a lower firmware if the bundled game is older?

I think it's like with the Mario Oddysey Bundle - numbers are lower but firmware is higher than all before and after.

Just received a brand new Splatoon Bundle from eBay.

Given the info in the OP, I was 100% sure this was going to be a 3.0.0 system. Color me pleasantly surprised!

Read the first post. Towards the bottom of the post, the serial numbers are given in ranges. If your serial falls within a reported range, it's probably the associated firmware version listed above the ranges.

Oh wow, I haven't even looked at the Japanese ranges because both of my systems are from the US. Apologies, I can see how that would be confusing now.

I think given those ranges, there's no way to know for sure. But either 2.2.0 or 2.3.0 are both great finds, regardless.

I have XAJ400136 and firmware 2.3.0. I would guess it's 2.3.0 most probably. Could be 3.0.0 but chanches that's 3.0.1 if it's new and never unpacked (you can't be sure as there is no way to say) is very small.

I think so. 3.0.0 is rare enough as it is, 2.2.0 or 2.3.0 would be both great finds either way. And who knows, maybe something will come up in the next month or two that will make you happy that you're below 3.0.0.

Can you return it in 14 days? You could just use vol-+ down + power to check firmware. I still think you are safe, it's below XAJ400154 or 155 which were all grey and 2.3.0

Unfortunately I cannot, once I buy. We don't have that easy rules here :-) Once opened i will not be able to return it. That's why I really have to be sure (or of course, as sure as possible). Therefore the question. What do you think? Buy or no buy?
