Rainway gets its first official trailer, features the Nintendo Switch

The team behind the game streaming app, Rainway, have uploaded an official trailer for their upcoming service. The video showcases players being able to stream PC games to their Nintendo Switch, phone, Xbox One, and more. Despite featuring the Nintendo Switch multiple times in the trailer, the end of the video does not show the Switch next to the other platforms listed (Firefox and Chrome web browsers, Xbox One, Windows, iOS/Mac, Linux, and Android).

When questioned on this fact on Twitter, the Rainway Twitter account said that the beta for their app is only on platforms that currently include a functioning web browser, and that Switch support is still in progress. Though the Switch does technically have access to a web browser, it's not a full feature.

Rainway currently has no scheduled release date, and though work is being made on a Switch app, there is still no confirmation from Nintendo that this will even be allowed on the eShop.

Our tech works. You've seen it, you just saw more of it. We've reached out to Nintendo with our proposal, went back and forth and we are awaiting confirmation for a possibility of a native eShop release. We've always said this. If we get a green light to build a native app, awesome. If not we still work through the web browser just fine. That is how our device agnostic tech works.

Base on how things are going, seems like he trying to get fan support to sway Nintendo... and get more views on his video. :P

I also hope they get approved. They can always improve it over time.

This is a bit off topic, but I really don't like these advertisements with "normal" people, they always seem extremely cheesy to me(this includes the recent Switch ads with "everyday" people). I mean either make it intentionally cheesy but this is hard to get right(Wii U ads…) or stop hiding that your trying to sell a product and instead just scream everybody in the face how awesome your product is
Some people don't like cheesy ads at all(or ads at all like probably most people do), I personally don't have a problem with them, only these "lifestyle" ads are stupid.

Normal people don't try to use a specific product as often as possible and meet tons of people who use the same product as often as possible.

EDIT: changed all videos to links so the thread isn't cluttered with them
EDIT2: didn't worked, removed all linked videos

I can't wait to stream 4k PC games on a 720p screen! said no one ever.
That's called supersampling and it looks pretty good. Still gonna deliver a lot more detail to that tiny screen than Switch is capable of.

If this is actually released there really is no reason to hack Switch. PC games > Android games every day of the week plus a day I just made up calls Smursday.

To be fair, you can get Android on PC. Plus, why not have both?

1st she is using ghe phone then the switch and then another girl comes and use a phone
did they really need to show the other girl with a phone with controllers attached to it AND a switch then another girl with a phone

My thoughts on the video:

- They're touting Switch a lot for a platform not confirmed yet....

- This would be great if I had a PC that could actually play games (can't even run cuphead well smh). I guess I can play SNES emulators on my Switch. Of course, if it doesn't come out on Switch, it's completely irrelevant to me.

- There are a lot of women in this trailer... not that I'm saying women don't play video games or shouldn't be in trailers (because that would be sexist), but the larger gaming demographic consists of men. I would think they would try to target them an equal amount. I wonder if they're intentionally trying to break gender norms or if it was just an interesting directing choice.

- Video description says that the logos used at the end did not imply partnership. If that's the case, why wasn't the Switch logo there?

- At this point, I realize I sound pretty negative. I do hope this does in fact work well and come to Switch, it just seems like they're holding information from us.

Like just about everybody, I already have both. I've got my phone and a Shield TV. That's why the prospect of hacking Switch only to run the most common OS in the world doesn't really excite me.

I'm gonna rebel and demand that we as men do not get an equal treatment :^)

Reference to the guys at the table on Switches. Also, I'm saying that doesn't mean Nintendo will allow this software. I need them to confirm this is coming or it's just hype for the product and nothing more.

It is a confusing ad. It doesn't even get across that it is streaming from the PC.

But this would be all on one device and I'm sure that appeals to some people.
