By the looks of everything if you break everything down, now we had nvhax(whatever that is) r0han, team Xecuter potential hardware mod, I don't see any issue with updating to play games. My advice which may not suit some, is update to the lowest possible FW to play the games you want.

I'm rather disappointed with how divided the scene is. The entitlement seething from some people on here. Not to mention the arrogance. "Don't upgrade! They told you not to! Told you so!" I believe devs really should keep quiet about progress. Or at least not come out and say "DON'T UPDATE!" If there's one thing to learn from past Nintendo consoles? You're not doomed if you update.

Lol what are you talking about "unupdate"? There's no way to downgrade the switch yet and there won't be until it is hacked more and they find a way to disable the efuses. Even after that it will only be possible to downgrade to firmwares that haven't blown efuses.

See, that's the Nintendo I know, no matter how secure they make consoles, they're not infallible. And the whole, how do I put it, firmware superiority, being sanctimonious, etc? Yeah, totally unnecessary, all it does it gives people an excuse to say "Well I'm on 3.x.x, so I'm better than you, blah blah blah" vibe. But now that we know all firmware from 1.0.0 to 4.x.x is exploitable, firmware bragging no longer works.

Instead of debating over the best FW version just put your Switch away and find something better to do for the next year or so while homebrew develops.

This statement doesn't hold true for homebrew developers but fact is majority of people on GBAtemp myself included don't know what the fuck we're doing.

Well... Scirem said that he got kernelhax up to firmware 3.xx on twitter and discord. I find it a reliable source

I don't give a rats ass, I'll pay for what I want and I'll pirate what I want or if I think games are overpriced or if it's easy to do. You can already see the discounts on several switch eshop games because sales probably aren't as high as they'd have liked. https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/worms-wmd-switch I think this is too expensive. They're thinking people will buy it just because it's on switch and they're RIGHT...but how many will buy it? I don't know, I'm just grumpy as fuck as usual but that's ok. VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET! .....and hacks.

Steamworld Dig 2 is a game I knew nothing about. I never played the first. I checked it out and bought it and it turns out to be one hell of a fantastic game so I'll just leave that tip here. Buy that one.
