    As far as I can tell everything (or nearly everything) from the US shop is backed up, but there are a lot of missing games from the EU and JP shops. From all the romsets I've seen, the Japanese version of NyxQuest and most Japanese Neo Geo games are missing.

    Oh no, I've just been using it directly through a GC controller port on my original Wii. Never used it on the Wii U.

    I can't speak for the Smash Ultimate controllers, but the smash 4 controller feels exactly like the original controller. The buttons all feel the same. The shape is exactly the same.
