Hello,

I recently just purchased an Xbox One to get back into modern gaming, and to play a few popular games with friends, but at the same time I would like to create my own Xbox One games and content through the Dev Mode Activation feature. (You have to purchase a license; as an individual it costs £12.00 in the UK)

I was wondering if anyone has/had prior experience with this sort of thing? In that case, I have a couple of quick questions I would like to ask about the setup process:

-- Do I need to set up a wired connection when transferring my games/apps? Or can I transfer my games/apps made in Visual Studio to the Xbox wirelessly? I ask because my router is set up in a different room from the one I have my Xbox in...

-- Secondly, to my understanding, you have to switch back to retail mode if you want to continue to play your retail games/apps and interact with friends. Is it risky to continually switch from Dev to Retail and vice-versa? I believe the dev program in question is out of beta now (it's been out since April) so hopefully MS should've ironed out any major problems that could arise.

I think that's really all the questions I have, if I'm honest. I'm sure I can set up everything with confidence after that, so again, if anyone has good knowledge on this, answers would be very much appreciated. :)

I'm a little surprised that someone interested in game development doesn't understand the basics of home networking, wireless and wired connections on the same network are essentially the same unless someone has specifically set up your router to block WAN sharing. If you have more than one router in your home you just have to make sure your PC and XBOX One are both using the same router and are part of the same homegroup.

I can't think of a good reason why switching your 'box from Dev to Retail would cause issues, though it is a Microsoft product, so who knows. Mine definitely has some glitchy login behaviour from time to time.
