I have a Denon S910W receiver and 5 speakers (plus a subwoofer) and I'm trying to get them all to run automatically when using my Wii, but the text on the receiver lists that the sound is running in "Stereo." The sound setting on the Wii itself is set to "Surround." I have several other console hooked up to the same receiver (including a Wii U) and they all run in surround sound automatically. My receiver is set to automatically set its sound mode based on the device running through it.

My setup is as such: Wii is connected to receiver via HDMI using the Sewell HDMI adapter; receiver is connected to the TV via HDMI. When using the Wii, I simply switch to the correct input on the receiver.

I figured it out! The Wii uses Dolby ProLogic II for it's surround sound which just converts stereo to 5.1 surround. The receiver won't automatically detect that since the signal coming in is technically stereo, so I simply changed the sound mode on the receiver to Dolby Surround and everything's good now!
