My PS2 plays pirated games, but some don't read it. I bought 2 games, resident evil and gh aerosmith. The resident evil cd that can't be read on ps2 and can't be read on pc either. And the gh aerosmith game contains a cs.iso. I will return this game to the store where I bought it. I don't know if my PS2 softmodded or hardmodded. But it can play pirated games with a right iso. Can someone please tell me how will I know if my ps2 is modded? I never opened this and never do some modding, I just played games.

Solution
PS2 softmodding is done by modding the memory card. Pull out all memory cards and see if it still plays burned discs. If it does, it's hardmodded. If it doesn't, it's softmodded.

If it's softmodded, iso files need to be ESR patched before you burn them or they won't work (google it).
