I have a dsixl and I have the original charger for it and I would like to know if its possible to turn it on without a battery installed in it. I would also like to know if a same voltage phone battery would work with it. Thanks.

Why would you turn on your computer, open a web browser, type the gbatemp address, search for the appropriate help section (which I appreciate, don't get me wrong), type out and submit that entire question + explanation, instead of just plugging it in and trying to turn it on?

You can do what WeedZ said or judt buy a new battery from the link Aqib Ali posted.

You can try using a phone battery but I highly doubt it'll work and will just cause more damage on the DSi itself.
