Is it better to understand one programming language to it's extent or understand a little of each of the programming languages?

Solution
^^^^ Not true. It is true that some languages are very similar, but there are thousands of programming languages and many have a lot more than "a few variations."

That being said, he is correct in saying that it is better to master one than know a little of everything. Things can get confusing if you switch from language to language as you might accidentally mix stuff up.

It's better to understand one programming language it it's extent because at that point you will learn that all programming languages are the same thing with a few variations.

When you know one language, you have a basis to form your understanding about other languages.
The main differences between languages is just syntax, which is very easy to learn on a per language basis.
The hard part is using your logical brain to come up with solutions to problems.
