Review Approach:

I'm a Nintendo fan, i can't deny that, i have been playing Nintendo games all my life since i was a little kid with his little Gameboy Advance Micro, with a progression evolution until the 3DS naturally, all the Nintendo handhelds are such good systems, that i could play hours and hours of games , it's Unlimited fun!, i do also have the rule of buying games later on, like, 1 or 2 years after the game has been released, and this is the case with Kirby Triple Deluxe, a game that i'm eager to discuss today!.
Kirby Triple Deluxe is the latest "platformer" Kirby game released for any Nintendo console, without counting Rainbow Curse which isn't a platformer, rather, a follow up of Canvas Curse, a game released years before on the Nintendo DS. Triple Deluxe is the game that brought back many of the elements that made the Kirby games so good, as well paying homages to all the previous Kirby games through songs, references, and keychains. Unlockable items that you obtain in the game by discovering hidden secrets or by paying 3DS coins, so, let's get this game checked out!.
Story

While most people don't take a look to this particularly part of the Kirby games, i would like to stretch it out a little bit more, the story is the most basic it can get, by quoting Nintendo sources.

"One night while Kirby is sleeping, a giant beanstalk called the Dreamstalk begins growing under Dream Land and carries various landmarks, including Kirby's house and King Dedede's Castle, into the sky. When Kirby wakes up the next morning, he finds he is in a new land called Floralia, located high in the skies above Dream Land. Kirby makes his way to Dedede's Castle and finds that the culprit behind the Dreamstalk is a six-armed, spider/tarantula-like being named Taranza, who has captured Dedede and trapped him in a prism made of light. Kirby ascends the Dreamstalk and gives chase after Taranza to rescue Dedede and set things right in Dream Land once more."

Not a game breaking legendary story, but it's fair enough to put Kirby on the adventure, and that's how the game goes, needless to say, the game presents little to no dialogue, only in the boss scenes and the final boss scene, i found this system pretty basic, considering that Kirby Super Star Ultra featured more dialogues, it felt a little lackluster that the next portable Kirby game couldn't feature more of that, either way, the charm of this game makes anyone to forget about it, so, i'll leave like that.

Graphics

The graphics in this game are beautiful, and while the resolution of the images say otherwise, once you play it on the real thing, it just looks gorgeous, it's easily one of the best 3DS looking games ever, everything is designed in both a smart and funny way, the Overworld is simple yet fantastic, when i'm playing this game, i sometimes feel that i'm playing a Wii game on the go, combine that with genius ideas, and you got a colorful pack altogether, they are also pretty smooth, and everything designed in this game really seemed to fit the nature of this game, which is, in my opinion, a great thing from part of HAL Laboratory team.

Gameplay

Okay, this is the topic that has changed a lot from other Kirby titles, by using the capabilities of the 3DS, this is the first 2.5D Kirby game on a handheld, and for that, all of the worlds are now able to use both parts from the level, the "Front" segment, where you start the adventure, and it revolves most of the game, and the "Background" segment, where at some points you can switch in a deeper part of the level, behind the front segment, this mechanic is done pretty well, as there will be levels when enemy will throw projectiles, or attacks at you from the background segment to the front, and viceversa.

This game also features a new ability called Hypernova, which is both a new skill for Kirby and a game mechanic at the same time, this ability allows Kirby to suck enemies with much, much power and range than before, this skill mostly appears in certain parts of levels where you are forced to use this mechanic, specially in puzzles, you don't lose your previous skill by obtaining Hypernova, but you can't also absorb other enemies skills during this mode, since all that you absorb is instantly destroyed by Kirby's sucking powers, so try to obtain a new skill before you pick this.

Going back to the basics, the game can't get more simpler, you move with the D-pad/Circle Pad, use "A" to Jump, "B" to suck/use attacks, and both "Y" and "X" for both trashing a skill or consuming one of the "items" that a Waddle Dee gives you at certain points of this game, perhaps the most significant change it's with the R/L buttons, where you can block, and if you press R/L - Left or Right, you can move Kirby in a way he isn't possible to hit, this comes in handy in the boss battles, as some enemies will re-spawn the same pattern over and over again, and you can simply avoid them with this.

The skills also got an upgrade, almost every single skill in this game are now charge-able, and each one gives you a different effect, for example, with the "Sword" skill you can attack enemies by spinning your sword with a previously charged attack, or "Cutter" with the possibility of throwing bigger boomerangs at your enemies, they also got some new skills and combos for others, this makes the game a lot of fun since you can beat a level with the abilities you want to use, this could make the game potentially harder or easier depending on how good you are with the use of abilities, or how you will use "x" in certain levels.

This game also features mini-games, you can use those to obtain something called "Keychains" as well in the main game, they are more for decoration, but they also pay homage to older Kirby titles, by featuring things like Dark Meta Knight, Marx, the companions from Dream Land 3, etc. the mini games are Kirby Fighters, a Smash type game where you can customize your Kirby with any of the abilities he has in this game, and battle other Kirbys, and Dedede's Drum Dash, a rhythm game where Dedede jumps on Drums, and he must recollect coins as well, reaching to the end.

Once you finish the main mode, you will unlock something called "Dededetour" where you can play the entire main game using Dedede, the changes brought in this mode are mainly with the bosses, because they will now have "Dx" on their titles, a change of palette, with more powerful and new attacks, some of the puzzles and parts of the game were also changed to adequate to Dedede's ability, and this further increases the replayability of this game, since you will have two characters to beat the game, at the end of this mode, you will fight Shadow Dedede and Dark Meta Knight, evil clones from the Mirror World.

Last thing to add is, each world has a predefined amount of levels, with one unlock-able if you manage to find all of the "Stars" in certain parts of the game, some of them requires you to suck the skills from some sub-bosses in certain levels, they aren't necessary to beat, but if you feel that you need a little more of content, you can unlock those for your personal reward, they are more harder than the normal levels naturally, but nothing too bad either, you could beat them on a breeze if you're lucky enough or you have great skills.

Conclusion

This game is excellent, one of the best Kirby games that i have played, with ton of new ideas, with beautiful and colorful graphics, and an outstanding soundtrack, i recommend this game for those who look into platformers, and want to have a good time, overall, this is one of the titles that you need to play on your 3DS to know how amazing this console is.

Verdict

What I Liked ...
  • Outstanding Soundtrack
  • Beautiful and colorful Graphics
  • Every level feels designed in a smart way
  • Kirby is freaking adorable
  • Pay homage to older titles through Keychains
  • High replayability overall
What I Didn't Like ...
  • Less dialogue than the previous platform Kirby game, Super Star Ultra
  • Some of the puzzles are painfully obvious to resolve, and others not so obvious to resolve
  • Some boss fights are easily exploitable with the use of certain abilities, making this more unfair for them
  • Some enemy placements are legit cheap at some points of the game.

Gameplay
The gameplay is simple yet addictive, the game offers you a ton of possibilities to beat a single level, the game is pretty smooth, and all of the skills got a serious upgrade, only at certain levels, some of the puzzles were too easy to beat, or just not that evident to resolve, but overall, is not something that conflicts with the game, in a major scale.
10
Presentation
One of the best looking 3DS titles out there, HAL Laboratory definitely exploited the 3DS at it's best to show us amazing and colorful graphics for the console, you sometimes feel that you're playing a Wii game on your 3DS, and that is a good thing to say for a handheld Nintendo console.
7
Lasting Appeal
This can attract newcomers for Platform games, but some people will be turned off by how easy and exploitable this game can be, and the lack of more content for those hardcore gamers isn't exactly too wide, but putting aside those gamers, for the rest of the world, the game is a blast, and overall a fun experience.

Overall

This game managed to be one of the most enjoyable 3DS games that i played, and while it has some low points, it's a great Kirby game, that definitely most people should check out!.
I think this is pretty good for your first review! ;)

Personally I didn't like the game as much as Kirby's Return to Dreamland which uses the same engine as this game, but it was still pretty good. I also really liked the "DeDeDe Tour" mode that let you play the game as King DeDeDe.

Oh Thanks!, I wanted to make my first review on this forum, especially with 3DS games since that is my main forte as of now, I may publish more reviews once i have the time to beat the game, and to deeply analyze it, I choose Kirby as this one since you know, it's Kirby, it's a simple game, if i were to review something like "Bravely Default" it would take me a little more of time, but we will see in a future.

I like the review! I dont have the consol for this but it still sounds enjoyebal.....maybe i need a 3ds

I think i misspelled somthing sorry

I reviewed this game, and i accidentally put it in the Retro Section 'cause mistakes happen, I pm'ed a mod to solve the issue, but i didn't got a reply, this was months ago so, I don't exactly remember what happened, glad you enjoyed this review gb marry!.
