Review Approach:

When I opened the game there was a simple menu. I could tell what was what. So I clicked on Create Fighter, took the pictures, made the sounds and had to make a background. After that I played it, it is kinda too simple.
Welcome! This is a review of Photo Dojo, which is a DSiware game where you take pictures and sound of you and your friends to put them in a fighting game! (And is also on the 3DS eShop)
Photo Dojo starts off with a simple, nice menu. It's simple easy to understand and helpful.

When you first start the game, you have to create a fighter.

You look at what to do, do a pose and take a photo. There are two modes before you start though. One is for using the inner camera which is the option to take a picture of yourself. Then there is one for taking a picture of your friend, which uses the outer camera.

Now i recommend to get someone to help you to take a picture of you/someone you know, as it is much more easier than trying to see a small screen to see if you are at a good pose. But don't worry if you get a bad picture. You can click [Try Again]! :D

Making the sounds is easy and lets you [Try Again] like the photo part.

After that you then have to make a background. The first background i made was my room as the background and the top of my monitor as the ground. It is very simple and has a line to make sure what is the ground and what is not the ground.

Now after that you can fight. But the fighting part of the game really isn't that great. It is too simple and sure why you do have simple combos which is what i like. i feel like you can't do much.

But you could get used to it.

Verdict

What I Liked ...
  • -Creative Idea
  • -Fun to create characters
  • -Allows to make sounds
  • -Let's you pick your special power
What I Didn't Like ...
  • -Too much photos to take.
  • -Have to be far away when you take a photo
  • -Fighting system is too simple

Gameplay
The fighting system is way too simple. You can Kick, Punch, Fireball and special power but that's it. It can feel empty at times. Another thing is the sounds you make get use ALOT. Sometimes i might get a headache because i kept hearing myself saying "TAKE THIS!!!!!" and had to change it to a punch sound. Another thing is that you cant also just draw, you could but you would have to draw on a notebook or something like that.

Presentation
The menus, the design is all great. You know what does what and gives you a tutorial that only has one textbox of text.

Lasting Appeal
7.8

Overall

I recommend this game to some people but it really isn't a game to go and make a video or spend some hours on. If you like to make things and like to act this is for you. if you just want a normal fighting game with some customization i'd say skip this one.
omg i remember this game... I installed it on my 3ds on dsiware, by far its the best fighting game for me.
