    Rumours of Apple buying Disney.

Apple TV+ is available on non Apple devices such as the Fire Stick, if anything, I'd expect Apple to shutdown Apple TV+ and just have Disney produce all of their content through Disney+. The most 'Apple like' thing I'd expect is for them to completely shut down physical media and force you to...

    Rumours of Apple buying Disney.

Hmmm actually this sounds like an idea Palatine would come up with to fund more Death Stars and increase his control on the Galaxy.

The first retro emulator hits Apple's App Store, but you should probably avoid it

I'm wondering if this app will last, this wouldn't be the first time an app got published only to be removed/restricted later on e.g. C64 and BASIC. IIRC the guidelines do put enough restrictions in place that a 'free for all' emulator may not officially be allowed. My two cents on Android vs...

Anyone else think the world inside Conspiracy theorists heads sounds like a lot of fun?

You could create a conspiracy theory that most conspiracy theories are a conspiracy by the conspiracy to hide the real conspiracy.

Windows 11 might not update if you have these popular apps installed

I don't exclusively use Linux simply because it doesn't run everything I want to run and/or has other issues. For most people though, it's likely because they use whatever their system ships with, look at Chromebooks. The only real chance I see for 'the year of the desktop Linux' to have a...

    Did you use Floppy Disk/Diskettes?

Probably concerns over compatibility, such as some ancient hard coded software which only accepts A: and B: for FDDs or C: as the system drive. Remember that they supposedly skipped "Windows 9" because of old software. Even if 99% of users don't need it, I'd expect some company to still be...

PS1/2 Question regarding miniOPL, HDDOSD and VMC

Be warned with HDDOSD, it can be slow to populate the browser. It's fine for a few games but once you get into the dozens it may be quicker to just load OPL from a MC.

Pimax to reveal its new VR headset next week

Your post reminds me of the Mixed reality headset days when they were seemingly a dime a dozen and selling for peanuts as they cleared stock. I only really think the Quest 2 anecdotally sold reasonably well because it was relatively cheap and the availability issues of the PS5.

Does anyone in the 20s or younger enjoy NES games?

Not the NES, but a few years ago I gifted one of my brothers a C64 mini, he said his then 5 year old kid was enjoying playing it. Edit: Just re-read the title.

Is lower capacity memory less prone to data rot?

I watched a presentation by Andrew "bunnie" Huang (the guy who dumped the OG Xbox secret ROM) some years ago, turns out that manufacturers may repurpose 'failed' flash memory into smaller capacities. So for example, a bad batch of 256GB SD cards with say 64GB worth of bad cells could be sold as...

Windows users should try to be more open minded to try Linux

TBH this is rather tame when it comes to Linux discussions. I've seen people who do see Linux as a philosophy, regardless of practicality and would rather run vulnerable CPU microcode then to update it and god help if you get on the wrong side of a Richard Stallman supporter.

Apple is opening up its App Store for video-game emulators

Until we see an emulator which allows user provided ROMs on iOS devices, either via Apple or third party app store (without messing around with jailbreaking, dev certs, etc.), this doesn't feel like something to get excited about since restricted emulators have existed on the app store for...

"New Windows driver blocks software from changing default web browser"

Well clearly it's important enough for MS to be doing this. As for myself, well if the software is using a browser to log in, then it's annoying having it in a different browser to where my password manager is. I've also done web development so I'm the wrong person to ask that question to.
