Homebrew PKMN-NTR: Real-time memory editing program for Pokémon games [WIP]

Thanks!! Very useful! Doesn't work for me however -- the program loads up as usual, but after that the illgality checker still remains in place. Have tried this for the very latest release, and also v3.1 to test an older release. Tagging @drgoku282 here as well, hope that works :P

Hacking 3DS Updates and Flashcarts - A FAQ

Perhaps you downloaded the wrong update or something. None of that matters anymore though, due to the new 3DS update. Please download kernel V1.49b from R4i-sdhc.com instead, to upgrade your flashcart now! Thread updated to link to pong's excellent topic on the update. Thanks to BloodAngel...

Hacking 3DS Updates and Flashcarts - A FAQ

Thanks guys! Thread updated to reflect the status of latest update. Xellos2099: This update does not block any flashcarts, the only update which did is the original v2 update (2.00-2). If flashcarts are updated according to the instructions on the first post of this topic they should work fine...

Hacking 3DS Updates and Flashcarts - A FAQ

GEi confirmed working on v2.0 with patch. Updated first post with the info, thanks to sp3ctr3 for testing it out. Double thanks to him for alerting me through PM. Also (finally) updated the Acekard firmware update link. Looks like it still does not work on HW44. Sighs.

Hacking 3DS Updates and Flashcarts - A FAQ

Nope. As mentioned previously only carts which can work on the DSi can even have a chance of working on the 3DS. The DSTTi, though, can work on 3DS, though not on the latest 3DS v2 updates (only on v1.00 or v1.10-1), using the patch in the first post of this topic.

Homebrew DeSmuME and save files help

Use the Shunyweb or UniqueGeeks save converter. Either convert directly to DeSmuME savetype, or convert to RAW and then change the extension of that .sav to .dsv. Once converted do ensure that your savefile has the same filename as your ROM (except for the extension of course), and that your...

Hacking Updated n00b guide to setting up your Acekard

First ensure you are using AKAIO v1.8.7, update/installation instructions are on the first post of this thread. 1. Download this, unzip and put it in the root (i.e. not inside any folders) of your microSD. 2. Get a DS phat/lite, or if you can't get hold of one get a DSi which can already work...

Hacking Using micro sdhc cards with larger amount of memory?

But he was going to get an 8GB sdhc card already. Since his cart can support SDHC that isn't really relevant to him.

Hacking 3DS Updates and Flashcarts - A FAQ

Only carts which work on the DSi can work on the 3DS, so yes there's no chance for the Acekard 2 or 2.1 to work on the 3DS unfortunately. My list is as exhausive as I can make it, but I will never guarantee it to be 100% accurate. As mentioned on that first post if there is anything I missed...

Hacking Using micro sdhc cards with larger amount of memory?

No. If there is a problem with the microSD it won't have anything to do with the size, but rather with its read speed (which is usually a reflection of build quality rather than storage capacity). You can read more about this here, under "What brand, size and class of SD card should I get for...

Hacking 3DS Updates and Flashcarts - A FAQ

Use the DSL, if you can get hold of one. It has the advantage of not being able to block your flashcart, so you definitely can update on it. @Soulsnatcher and blaydes99: Thanks! First post updated with new info.

Yes. It's not a bad idea, if you can afford it.

Hacking Best flashcard to purchase for 3DS?

Well, that depends. The R4i Gold 3DS from r4ids.cn is not bad, extremely cheap and has pretty decent support. The R4i DSN is a "sister" cart to that R4i Gold, and is just as good. The Acekard and the DSTWO are still much better, of course, even after factoring in affordability. And the rest of...

Hacking Best flashcard to purchase for 3DS?

I have heard things here-and-there too, but it seems like it isn't much of a problem. It might be a tighter fit than usual, of course, but it still should not get damaged if you take note of that, and slot the cart in with care. (might stretch your slot though, but again that shouldn't be very...

    Hacking AK2i update for 3DS2.0 and DSI1.4.2

Ohno. The Acekard 2i should show either the DORASU icon (runs on 3ds v1.10-1) or the Chessmaster icon (runs on 3ds v2). If it shows the Acekard icon this means that it hasn't actually been updated to work on 3DS at all. >.< Try borrowing a DS phat or lite from a friend. If none of your friends...

    Hacking AK2i update for 3DS2.0 and DSI1.4.2

Could you clarify what you mean by "it still won't recognise it and I get the error screen"? What exactly is the error, and exactly when does the error screen pop out? After you try to load your Acekard onto the 3DS, after you try to load the ROMs, or after you try to run the update files?

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Hope you've had a good morning.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

I think that's why I focus on just enjoying single player experiences that aren't too competitive

    How are you doing?

There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
