Or if he doesn't care about actual homebrew, an Xkey360 would work great for running games off a USB harddrive. Really depends on what the OP hopes to achieve though....

Xkey is quite expensive.
Especially if you barely are going to touch the system.

It certainly is better then flashing.

Expensive but less risky (no risk of botching the motherboard at all). In the long run depending on how many backups you plan on burning, Xkey can still be cheaper than flashing (with dual layer dvd's still hovering at around $1/disc USD, at least in my area). Its a toss up really. If the OP has a steady hand and is pretty confident at soldering, and has a board that is known to be fairly stable, an RGH would be the ultimate solution of course :P.
