Hardware Is it worth it to buy a wii off of Ebay that won't read discs and mod it.

I've been looking in to it and want to buy a wii and mod it. Would it matter if I bought a Wii that the Disc Drive doesn't work and just mod that?

Not really.
I used letterbomb offline.

I used my phone's hotspot to dl the letterbomb's files on my laptop and put it on a spare SD card.

Then just used letterbomb from the wii. For some reason, my wii won't connect to my wifi (WPA2).

You need 4.3 to use letterbomb, though.

Standard Wii games use Nintendo optical discs.
If you instead play a game as an iso file on SD card, for example, that changes the game's medium.

Oh, I see. You mean that loading from an SD, that has a lower reading speed compared to the console's disc reader, would alter things like loading times?

I've never tried to load a Wii game fron an SD, but that makes sense. I only loaded games via USB and I had no problem, so when I read your comment I kind of started wondering.

You can probably just get a working wii for cheap anyways.

I get them at thrift stores usually around 7.99-15$ and pass on them if they want more. I get most of my spare console's that way as it is cheaper than eBay and Pawn shops.
