My 2DS XL that I got for Christmas just stopped booting. When I went to put in a game card (Mario Kart DS) it didn't register, so I turned it off. Now, when I go to turn it on the blue power light stays on, but nothing happens.

I started charging it (even though it didn't run out of battery) and it still won't turn on. The game card slot has been a bit wobbly I've noticed. Games won't appear immediately and I'll have to re-insert them a few times to get them to pop up. Does anyone have some kind of fix for this? It's brand new so I really don't want to send it back to Nintendo for a fix.

EDIT: Forgot to mention. Not hacked/homebrew in any way. Never done anything like that to the ds.

Since you haven't hacked it in any way, do you have a warranty that is still within date? Maybe take it back to where you bought it from

Sorry. I got it working again. Weirdly enough. It worked after taking the card out again, and when I popped in a 3DS game (to make sure the slot wasn't broken all together) it worked. Tried Mario Kart again, didn't work. Tried another DS game, worked. I put Mario kart into my DSi to see if the game card itself was just faulty and it worked, then it worked in the 2ds. I guess my ds just wanted to embarrass me. Thanks for trying to help though!

Good to know your new 2DS is working again. I also recently got the same model myself and love it

What happens when you try booting into safe mode by holding A+R+L+Up(DPad) at power up?

Just curious what does this do?

Thanks, I do love the model, just wish I got a 3ds earlier seeing as support will be stopping soon. I didn't even get to use the Miiverse :/

Fair, I really got it to play classics like AC and Pokemon - which I'm really liking esp. the new graphics compared to old DS!

Actually thanks to Nintendo being the gods of backwards compatibility I've had the chance to play older games like Pokemon Gold, super happy about that. Nintendo have always done what I've wanted companies to do with bc, Xbox can't even wrap their heads around being able to put an older disc into the newer disc drive.

I can't find anything online about Nintendo stopping 3DS support? If anything the first result is that they will continue support?

Well, even though Nintendo have said they want the 3DS to live alongside the switch, I think it's pretty clear (with not very many games coming out and the discontinuation of Miiverse) that the 3DS wont be getting anything new and will probably be losing it's services in the next few years. I actually might make a thread about what I want the 3DS to get before it dies, as I had a few ideas.

I had the same issue.
I turned on my 2ds twice and it only showed the blue light and nothing else.
I took the memory card and game card out, restarted holding A+R+L+UP(dpad) and it booted.
Then i put in the game card and then memory card and it was fine.
I didnt notice any differency by starting in safe mode though. Maybe i did it wrong

I've had my 2ds xl for almost a year and I haven't played on it since I went to Six Flags, which was a few months ago. I've been charging it for at least 30 minutes, so I pressed the power button, the blue light showed up before it turned off. I don't know what to do. I've tried checking the battery but the screws are so small. Any help cause I'm about to throw it away.

If your n2DSXL has custom firmware installed, attempt revival with this:

the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now

    Interesting lol

I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)

So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.

cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb

but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding

AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that

least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
