Popular Questions
  • Q: What is the Nintendo 3DS?

A - The Nintendo 3DS is the successor to the Nintendo DS system. It can produce 3D effects that can be viewed without the need for 3D glasses.
  • Q: How does it let you see a 3D image without glasses??

A - The Nintendo 3DS produces a 3D effect using autostereoscopy. Think of the 3DS's top screen as showing two images at the same time, and having another screen (the parallax barrier) over it to allow each eye to see one screen at once.
  • Q: What does the Nintendo 3DS come with?

A - The Nintendo 3DS comes packaged with one stylus, charger stand, charger, several augmented reality cards, a 2GB SD Card and several booklets (manual, Club Nintendo code, etc.).
  • Q: Does it have backwards compatibility with DS Games?

A - The Nintendo 3DS has backwards compatibility with Nintendo DS and DSi games.
  • Q: How much does it cost?

A - It cost $169.99 in North America. In Europe, Nintendo is letting retailers set the price. The current average price as of the time of writing is €169.99. In Japan, it costs 15,000¥ yen.
  • Q: When was the Nintendo 3DS released??

A - It was released in February 26th, 2011 in Japan, March 27th, 2011 in North America and March 25th, 2011 in Europe.
  • Q: When will a flashcart be made/when will it be hacked?

A - Nobody knows when a flashcart that can access 3DS-Mode will be released. The Nintendo 3DS has been hacked to work in DS-Mode, though. Consult my 3DS Hacking FAQ for more information.
  • Q: What GPU (graphics processing unit) is used??

A - The GPU used in the Nintendo 3DS, is the PICA200 made by Digital Media Professionals.
  • Q: How big are the screens?

A - The top screen is a 3.53-inch 15:9 screen that can display 3D effects. The touch screen is 3.02-inches.
  • Q: Will you be able to adjust the 3D effect??

A - Yes, there is a slider on the right side of the top screen.
  • Q: Where are save files stored?

A - DS/3DS games save to the cartridge, DSiWare games save to the system itself and eShop games save to the SD card.

3DS XL or 3DS?

0IQb8.jpg

The 3DS XL offers 90% larger screens at 4.88" for the top-screen (versus 3.02 for the 3DS). It also features numerous cosmetic improvements including the removal of the 3D light, the Start-Home-Select buttons turned into actual tactile buttons, the screen-scratching issue fixed thanks to small nubs on the top of the system and an improved D-Pad.

You might be wondering whether the 3DS XL is portable enough to bring with you outside. Well the 3DS XL is similar in size to the DSi XL and the Vita so if you're able to bring those with you, you should have no problem with this.

(FAQ #). I Found the 3DS!!1

A: It wont be out between the time span of 2011-2012, maybe even 2013.
What the hell? I thought it was gonna be released in March 2011? They're showing the 3DS at this year's E3, there's no way it will take that long for it to be released.

Seconded, that's incorrect. It will be released within the fiscal year ending March 2011, according to the official press release.
In other words, the latest it could be out is March 2011.

OP
Q:Throws away computer* I heard it has the NVIDIA chipset in it.

A: >_> Also unknown. Most speculation leads to the answer "No". The NVIDIA chip, would increase the value of the Nintendo 3DS, most likely causing alot of people to not buy it because of the economy, and all.
Hm, not really. Through speculation we established that the price of manufacturing the handheld wouldn't go up considerably... it would still be affordable.
And to strengthen that point, look at the sales of the iPhone. They're dear, but still sell well despite the shit economy atm.
Speculation leads to the answer, "Perhaps".

and that is prob only for japan, us+eu+ rest of the world will have to w8 a bit longer befor we get it

Maybe nice to add the following question

Q: Does the DS in 3DS stand for Duel Screen?
A: Most likely but it doesnt have to be 2 seperate. 3DS can also stand for 3D Screen or 3rd superhandheld

btw Njrg i saw you got banned on DS-scene?
I was just told that like 3 minute ago by someone. Apparently I was banned because the people who only use the Scene for patch fixes to their roms don't like me.

Do you like me? ^3^

@K3Nv2 Snow Day is pretty fun. My only bitch would be the camera controls, when you move around, say down, you have to move the right stick left or right to get camera to turn and get your view, other than that I like it so far.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
From what people say pvp isn't even worth it
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
If you can find enough for it
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Toilet paper is considered the money, you collect and buy stuff with TP, kinda funny. Graphics are def better than the other games tho, I think they used Unity 5 engine.

I bet most people at the time still watched it in black and white
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Many of them did before colour television was common.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Likely because black and white TV was in-expensive.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It certainly wasn't inexpensive it cost the same as a new car back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
How much did a 1965 color TV cost?

For example, a 21-inch (diagonal) GE color television in 1965 had an advertised price of $499, which is equal to $4,724 in today's dollars, according to the federal government's inflation calculator.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@K3Nv2, take into consideration how economy was back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah that's why they listed inflation rates
