I think I like some ports, cause it shows how popular a game is to exist even after is long overdue. Dark souls on switch, never played or had interest but I might cause it seem like is favored. So I may consider it. But is off putting if is $60 if especially if is over 5 years old and know it is. The world ends with you seem okay, if it doesn't work on touch controls and i can use a standard controller, then sure give it to me. Why not do Kingdom hearts NDS games port too. If they do the same thing with mario galaxy where I can play with standard controls then sure I'll buy, now that the games is on system without gimmicks. :)

theyre rereleasing the games that didnt sell as well as they hoped

How mario kart 8 sold more than smash bros, and even worst America out sold Japan, I thought japan was pro nintendo. O_O

Its a marketing ploy, bring out the old big guns then introduced them to the ones that didn't sell well. Mario Color Splash will arrived soon on the switch

I hope Mario Tennis Aces will be better than the disappointment that was Mario Tennis Ultra Smash (at least I was disappointed with it, compared to the N64 Mario Tennis).

Simply put, some people want to play their Wii U games on the go.

Not even a year has gone by and Nintendo has remaster 4 WiiU games. First of Mario Kart 8, then Pokken Tournament so I’m like ok that’s fine and now in this direct I was expecting virtual console games finally being announced but no! More Remastered shit. Tropical freeze and Hyrule Warriors. Like WTF?! We just got hyrule warriors not even 2 years ago (3ds) Now we are getting it again for the 3rd time? The only difference being is that you have 2 new skins and a minor upscale same with tropical freeze you only get funky kong in this version. I didn’t even last 2 minutes in this direct cuz it was straight up shit. Instead on focusing on remasters just port them to the switch via virtual console simple. You didn’t need a definitive version to a game that had so much dlc. Honestly Nintendo, we are on a new console, a console that has literally 4 new games lol. BOTW, Odyssey, Arms and splatoon 2. You need to get your shit together.

No. I dont want vc ports. Its annoying too so that is why you want VC which are just old emulated ports ? Interesting. I prefer a brand new games.

Nah. I didn't get every game for the Wii U or even the 3DS. So, if they started focusing on porting 3DS titles, I wouldn't mind either. Cough All of FE Fates on one cart Cough. Even then, not everyone else played every game.

Didn't feel like reading all the pages, but base on the poll, people complaining about ports seems to be in the minority.

I'm not annoyed that there are remasters. I'm annoyed that people didn't buy the Wii U and are playing these games for the first time on the Switch. The Wii U is/was a good system, and clearly it has/had a great library of games of they're being ported to the Switch.

I will hear people talk about how much they play Mario Kart on the Switch, and I'll think to myself, "Where were you when the Wii U was drowning?"

I am beginning to think that Nintendo is out of original ideas. There has never been a good Zelda since Majora's Mask, the Wind Waker could have been nearly perfect if they put more dungeons in it and hadn't rushed it. If they would release an updated version of the Wind Waker and called it the critical version (with eight extra large added dungeons) i'd be all over it.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I mean all those ports are a cry of creative defeat.
From my experience as someone with a ps4 but no ps3, I love how many remastered ps3 ports there are. I imagine id feel the same way with a switch if I didn't have a Wii U. And a link between worlds and botw are fantastic. Disagree if you want, but botws average critic score of 97 shows you're in the minority.

If the Wii U were some very successful system, then the thought of remasters/ports on Switch wouldn't sit too well, but we all know the Wii U failed and not many people had one, so porting and remastering many of its good games is giving them a 2nd chance to be played by an larger audience.

I don't think the success matters as much when it comes to ports. It didn't stop the amount of ports from ps3 to ps4, for example.

I think the main reason there making so many ports despite complaints about them is cause
different strokes for different folks. Many seem content with at home gaming though with me and others, I've re bought many games and said games I've re bought tend to end up getting more playtime out of me cause I'm more so leaned towards loving to play on the go. They seem to be trying to find some strike of balance between ports for those who like to play on the go and new games for those who just play Nintendo games in general.
Another thing
is that the Wii U was a flop, there are already more Switches in the wild now then in the whole Wii U's life time. They see that they can breath new life into these games with giving them another chance on a new console that is actually becoming more successful...as in out sold the games original platform's life in under a year more successful.
