I'm planning on picking up a Xbox 360, either new or used.
I've seen some consoles brand new for about 100€ so I can't miss that out, however which model should I pick?
Am I losing anything on picking up the most recent model?

I'd pickup a hackable model, but it would be the same as the PS3. Hacking it and never turning it on again.
360 games are plentiful and cheap so piracy is not something I'm going after.

Place an Xkey into it, stealth patch the games with ABGX and run them online.
RGH is offline forever yeh.
Unless you want to spend hundreds for shady stealth servers.

It's a bit expensive yeh, but worth the price if you want an easy solution.
Otherwise, a Phatty and flash the drive.
You'd need a special burner for the 8.5 GB ISOs tho.

The Xbox 360 E models have no optical output.

The only advantage ( to me ) of the first-generation ( old) faulty Red Ring Of Death models was that they had no wireless tech bundled in the hardware, and also came with no wireless controller (which I prefer).

The S models that followed had wifi/ bluetooth and HDMI integrated. Same with E.

I am using an unhacked 360 E ( latest ), though I removed the RF module and wifi module from the unit because I wanted to game 100% wired with the official wired xbox 360 controllers. I wanted zero possibility for constant wireless emissions emitted by the RF module and zero possibility for wifi polling and zero interest in non-traditional controls. There are some tradeoffs to this approach on the E model...you have to turn on the unit from the remote, eject discs from remote, etc. because the POWER and EJECT buttons connect to the same board. No problem. A very small price to pay for microwave-free gaming.

I absolutely despise the fact that 100% wired gaming choices are gone in the latest consoles from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.

Anyway, the latest E model uses half the power of the original xbox 360. It's a solid unit. Quiet too.Though maybe the S models were better...I never owned one to say either way. And you can't buy them new anyway.
