Who cares? Modding has always brought to piracy, this is some Gateway3DS drama [remastered2018]
Can't, you read dude? Maybe they care, that's why they are pissed off. #LOGIC
They are constantly saying that they are strictly against piracy in the first place. And xecuter is going to sell access to piracy. That's what pisses them off.

That's their problem lol.
First thing, Xecuter NEVER said a single word about piracy, but about custom firmware and stuff.
Second, modding has always brought to piracy, this isn't something new.

I don't know. It sounds more like they thought it'd be a proper time. It's not a matter of "Oh sh*t, this presentation said some things that may or may not have to do with our product, now we must show our product." There's no reason to view it as such. To come out of the woodwork and advertise a product in light of the "no exploits for 3.0.1 and above" shtick is a good thing. If these devs are salty, it's pretty much petty at this point. Modchips aren't new. Xecuter is a reputable mod team. There are now options. Even pluto came out and said that they couldn't have done this within a 5 day period just after the presentation. This has to be something they've been working on for a while. Piracy isn't a valid reason to get upset either. It was only a matter of time. It's not even mentioned (even as 'backups') by the team behind this mod.

Why are you asking what is their problem then?

Right. They have a solid interest in modifying consoles. Piracy is just a 'side-effect' of their work. Granted they've given options and services directly related to piracy. However, it is what it is. Piracy is inevitable.

i think they are upset because they feel like they have used up all the info they released?
which i think they just might have.

they feel like their work has been stolen for bad purpose.

Can't say 'stolen' as it wouldn't be fair, let alone right.

Jealously. It's simple, someone came out with a better product, that works on all firmware. None of that <3.0.1 or you're waiting for years nonsense. These guys will be the main contributors to the scene if their product works as advertised.

Important thing is that it's good for everyone in the end though (except Nintendo).

yeha after all, they shared it with the public is that not so ?

so if some hack group decides to use that , it makes them go nuts ?
weird.

but somewhat understandable , but still they should have expected this and just kept it all private then.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
