Overheating isn't a bad guess.

Is your house clean i.e. not dusty?
Is your console well ventilated?
Did you do any mods to it? (flashed drive/RGH/Xkey)
How old is it?
Does it blow hot or cold air from the side?

Over heating maybe? Make sure its well ventilated
Well before, when I open it up and it hangs it only does for a few cycles(power up, few minutes pass, hangs, repeat) then it doesn't hang anymore, like it's revving up or something, but now it consistently hangs. Might a change of thermal paste help? Maybe it already ran out of that?

House is really dusty.
Console is well ventilated, I guess, I have other consoles too. My PS3 sounds so loud but it never hangs up on me.
It has JTAG.
Unsure, bought it secondhand, but I guess it probably is upwards of 4 years old.
I'd wager hot, I'd remember if it blew cold. Also, the vents are on top of the console, if that makes sense.

It's not JTAG but RGH.

Anyway it seems like a wiring issue.
The PLL_Bypass or CPU_RST wire is likely to close to a MOSFET or any other thing that generates electrical interference.
It could also be that the soldering is a bit shoddy and the chip isn't working properly.
Other thing could be the wire length, but that's mainly the cause of inconsistent booting (long boottimes)

Could be. Also how old is it? Has it had quite a lot of use? Could be the hdd packing up
Yep, I've used it quite a lot and I bet the person who used it before me did too. Well I considered the HDD too but I use the same HDD for the PS3 and it never hangs up on me when I use it on that console.

Oh yeah, RGH I guess.

So the wiring thing, it happens as time goes by? What wire's length could be the cause of the booting issue? Because before I thought the console died, apparently my power cable was faulty so I replaced that and it's working again.

If you're experiencing boot trouble (long time to boot etc) cutting a cm off the wire each time could help solve it.
As for the freezing in game, it's likely one of the wires to close to a MOSFET.

If you don't know how to solder n what not, I suggest you take it to a modshop.
I'm pretty sure they won't mind fixing it up for a tenner orso.

Wire of?

I'll tell the repair shop to try and look for that, thanks! What could've caused that, by the way?

shorten CPU_RST for boottimes.

Could be shoddy soldering, could be shitty wires.
Could be wires slowly sagging towards other components.

Just tell the modshop that your 360 is experiencing difficulties in game and with boot.
Tell them to reinstall the chip.
That should be enough to make it fully function again.
