Clear Bias you can see it because they repeatedly bring up mania but not the flaws mania had too
This is just another case of wind waker syndrome where people are bitching because it wasn't something they wanted so they don't see any good in something like that, same thing happened with Unleashed. Unleashed was way better than Colors and Gens, yet people somehow praise those more?

@SANIC cuz mania is what a good Sonic game should be like. Anyways I hope the game is good still, but I've had very little hope ever since Sega announced that they wouldn't be giving out review copies.

The person i've been watching stream the game has played about halfway and the game seems excellent. I think polygon gave it that due to the pressure of the Sonic Fanbase and losing credibility due to unpopular opinion
Still mania reused way more assets and levels and people call forces unoriginal for some reason

@SANIC if it looks good to you then that's great. I kinda lean towards the polygon review, I have to agree with it looking mostly like a on rail runner and I still think the avatar sections look boring to play. At the end of the day polygon's review, famitsu's review (they gave it a 32/40 I think) and what you and I think are just people's opinions. People will make up their minds for themselves when they get their hands on the game in a few days.

It got a 35 on famitsu you can really see how the japanese sonic fanbase and american fan bases are different compared to each other. The advertising is different and how people see the franchise are different

That's kind of a given. Pretty much any game, movie, etc. Is going to have a different view depending on what part of the world it's in due to cultural differences and people in different regions liking certain types of games, movies and characters.

In the japanese trailers they emphasized the bond between sonic and the avatar, but in the localized versions of the trailers those lines of dialogue are gone, specifically the line saying "The bond between you and sonic can save the world"

Should I buy this game (PS4)? I'm not exactly a Sonic fan but have played several Sonic games, including generations

I would say it's better than gens. Forces has that depth and story that Gens lacked, you could finish it in an hour, Forces is considerably longer. Also the personalities of the characters have been corrected and Sonic is no longer an entitled prick and Tails isn't useless. Also every character actually has a place in the story

@sanic different regions are going to have different advertisements aimed at that regions demographic. They leave stuff out of advertisements between the U.S. and Japan all the time. TBH I see the whole avatar thing being more popular in Japan than here in the states.

Btw the Avatar does have backstory in the form of cutscenes spread through out the game, and zones aren't played in order

@sanic yup, the Sonic fanbase in Europe and the US is... Interesting at the very least. I meant outside of the core fanbase I'd see something like a customisable avatar being more popular in Japan than the U.S. Here in the states people that aren't big Sonic fans will say "ew, furry" when they see the boxart and run as fast as possible away from the box. :P

Tbh the character customization was executed really well and even has voice clip options, like Xenoverse
