My views on Overwatch

Overwatch free weekend... I decided to play it with my friend who already bought Overwatch like somewhere around 2016/2017.

To make this clear: my main pc has 4GB of RAM.

It was fun, needless to say kinda repetitive. The amount of competitive maps is smaller than TF2's for example.
The amount of deathmatch maps is also pretty small... It seems to repeat after some time, even in quick play.
While I was playing with my friend, it was not this noticeable but If i tried to play alone, it was pretty boring after one hour or so.

What character I liked the most during this "test play" of mine? Mercy and Genji. Genji works more like a flank and Mercy works like a TF2 medic, oh and McCree even though my aim is completely shit.
I played Overwatch at my friend's house so i got used to mechanics.

Believe me or not, his cousin has 264lvl and yet I, as level 4, rekt him 7 times with my friend. Oh boy, the power of teamwork. [hint hint: doesn't exist on quick play since everyone either goes DMG or hanzo /shrug]

Did that free weekend make me want to buy this game? Yeah, but not at this state. As fun as this game is, it lacks maps and simply, more character reworks. This game got out of beta way too fast and it looks like they rushed for no reason. [Features useless nerfs, yay!]
Also, the game doesn't explain the price tag. As gorgeous as this game looks, there's no way i'll spend +$40. [$60 without sales]

The other issue I experienced is the JESUS CHRIST HIGH AS F-memory usage. This game was first to cap 2GB of my RAM memory and then it just began to increase and what does it bring is that my GPU would completely lose focus and just crash Overwatch. This was fixed by enabling that option related to buffering but still, jesus christ...

Currently, I would give this game a strong 6.2/10. As promising as it looks, it simply lacks the most stuff.
Now, if you'll excuse me, i'll go play as medic in TF2. See ya in the next blog post!
[Oh and also, last chapter of Win10 guide will be out tomorrow. I'm in middle of writing it so uh, yeah.]

Severely disappointed with Overwatch. Was expecting something spectacular considering all its hype but it's just nothing special for me. Played it with 2 friends and we all kinda felt the same. Heck, I had more fun with Paladins.

Yeah, I also expected way too much of Overwatch but it's feels more like Blizzard's take on TF2. It's not a bad game but it leaves that bland taste in mouth.

Dang, I really liked Overwatch. It was better than both Battleborn and TF2 to me. I'm just not sure I want to buy it right now because it's still full price.

Regarding your memory issues, if you're planning on playing these types of high-quality games, you essentially really had better shell out cash for a proper rig that'll make the game stable and butter-smooth. You ain't gonna enjoy it very much with those specs alone; golly gosh, no. I had to learn that the hard way with all my previous PCs and laptops. (I had roughly the same specs as you)

I just bought Overwatch on PC yesterday since it was on discount. No fanboy by any means, but I fuckin love this game. Ever since my friends introduced me to it on Xbox, I've been quite hooked since. And now I have it on PC and no longer need a crappy controller or an expensive subscription, I can hardcore out even more often than usual.

A good PC would cost me 1,700pln, which is not a money I can shell out everyday or even collect. Only Overwatch has problems on my PC, other games like RL run just fine on High and TF2 runs butter smooth so idk what to think anymore.

Perhaps the fact I only recently got a rig myself is gettng to my head a bit. :P I haven't played on an average-spec PC in ages, but yeah, they really should've accomodated more for those average-spec people too, if that's the case.

I agree that the $60 Origins Edition price is steep, but considering the game's been out for a full year and has been getting free content updates regularly, I think the game becomes more worth its standard $40 price the longer you own it. Also, I'd just like to say that if you really want to get a better experience with the game, you definitely need more than 2 GB of system RAM, I'm surprised it actually ran at all. But hey, that's just me. Interesting to hear your take on it, nevertheless!

The amount of deathmatch maps is also pretty small

that's mainly because deathmatch was added very recently

Oh boy, the power of teamwork. [hint hint: doesn't exist on quick play since everyone either goes DMG or hanzo /shrug]
in quick play, barely anyone cares actually... i myself just try out characters and don't try to complete the objectives that much

you will understand the true pain in competitive. the other team always play together while yours:
members always going solo
always a widow\hanzo.
no one focuses enemy healers. or kills the pharrah
after capturing the point, or while pushing the payload your team will play mouse and cat (they don't stay in the poitn\payload where they are suppose to protect), get killed one by one and then the point\payload gets lost to the enemy
there is usually a mercy that is grouped up with the friend and just heals\revives the friend, ignores the rest of the team.
no one pushes.. etc...
the enemy junk always fucks you (this one is overpowered now...)

during the weekend the game is awful. specially in the competitive, they are playing clueless of what to do.. i will get back playing after this is over

as for the game price, during this weekend is for 30USD (or 25 EUR)
the game of the year edition is just cosmetic shit you won't even use, you can upgrade it later if you want

I understand the game don't got too much content, but 40 to 60 dollars for a game that can provide thousands of hours of gameplay, I don't really see the price being such a drag. Yeah, there's TF2 but TF2 looks like shit compared to Overwatch. Even though I love both games.

30 USD during the weekend
and they do these often, because i bought the game in one of these weekends

I think everyone’s first thoughts were “TF2 ripoff”, second thoughts after a while being “Over priced Paladins”. I personally enjoy Overwatch as paying out for it at the time wasn’t a biggie for me and as a beta tester it was enjoyable.

Now it just sits on my desktop, despite having it more or less since release, I’m only a Level 163 player. It’s not really enjoyable anymore, the lack of communication is astounding and tilted players are so common. Even if i’m queuing with friends, it’s not so great, and it’s EXTREMELY salty, so much so it’s a meme.

Hence why I only log on now and again to avoid a pile up on updates and check out on what’s new. Either way, I wouldn’t really waste your money until it’s on offer (as it is now, at least it says so on the EU server).

I think I disagree, as said above deathmatch just came out, so of course there won't be too many maps. For now I'd say there are a good chunk of maps in the regular modes with many more to come along with more heroes. The game has like double the TF2 selection and IMO they're all much cooler. I would also give the game an 8/10.

i preefer overwatch a lot more than tf2, maybe because the characters are cute and pretty, because there is more characters and different stuff to choose from..
i just find sad that capture the flag is not a normal mode in the "quick play" list... and just appears sometimes in the arcade...
really enjoy that mode...

anyway, i do find the "ultimates" breaking a lot the game...
in the "overtime" parts usually the dispute is solved by ultimates, like, sudden reaper appears, presses q, cleans the area wins the game and earns POTG..
