Anybody know how to contact Exophase? I tried sending the following email but got a "wrong email address message instead"

...To begin this email, I would like to say thank you so much for making this emulator! I just have one request and it may or may not be a big one. When the emulator is used on a 7+ inch tablet, it would be nice to be able to hold the device vertical (portrait) and have the top and bottom screens at the same width of the Original DS (or smaller as needed). Additionally, it would be nice to have all pertinent game controls in the same general areas as on a DS, giving many of us the same feeling as playing on a legit DS. You could even add different color backgrounds, mocking the ability to have different color DS consoles. I sincerely hope that this request is not too much but any consideration would be awesome.
Sincerely,
Lighty Kid

It's a suggestion but one that I think would make this emulator beyond awesome!

I know how to contact him :P

I'm not actually doing the Android interface coding, that's done by Lordus (and I can direct him to this thread although he has a way of finding these..). But I can tell you there are already options to have the screens in portrait orientation.

I guess it's outdated then... My PC can run Dolphin and PS2 emulators just fine, but the versions of No$GBA and DeSmume are very slow, maybe something to do with the settings (?), ;0;

Yay? I think I'll stick to my guaranteed full speed DS Lite with a DSTwo, thanks.

Not to rag on this or anything, in fact I'll probably end up grabbing it to test out a few games and such on my S4, but the thought of touchscreen button controls along with the bottom touchscreen kinda makes me feel meh about it. While yeah, blah blah blah bluetooth controller blah blah blah whatever, I'd rather stick with actual hardware than an emulator. But that's just me.

I can't tell if that footage is real or not, but I'm hopeful, the reason I doubt is that those lines from recording look fake, and they aren't consistent across the whole screen some of the time. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't those lines only arise from inline, and not progressive scan?

Either way, if it's real, I'm on board.
Those lines are caused by the FPS of the camera not matching the refresh rate of the screen exactly, I think. Either way they happen with both CRT and LCD screens, though are more prominent with CRTs.
I've noticed them when recording footage from screens myself.

Edit: Oh shit it's made by Exophase. Coming from the same guy who made gpSP explains why it's that fast, as gpSP is very fast too, but there are bound to be compatibility issues introduced by his (probably major) changes and whether it's open sourced or not he's the only one who'll ever be able to understand his own code so you better hope he keeps working on this for the foreseeable future :P
I'm assuming he didn't actually write this from scratch, because that sounds like far too much work. Though I suppose he did write gpSP from scratch so it's possible, but the DS is more complicated to emulate.

The only issue I see with this is, I am pretty sure it needs an extremely powerful phone/tablet and unless you already own one, it might just be cheaper to buy a used DS Lite and an R4.

A Nexus 7 would probably do the job just fine and the price is very good.
And I think the main point is that the screen is much bigger on a tablet. If you're using a phone there's not much point. It sure would be nice playing those touch-based games on a tablet screen though :)

The Nexus 7 is very popular so a lot of people already have all that's needed to use this emulator.

I'm not sure how well the previous gen dual core devices are going to run it though but it probably doesn't make use of 4 cores so they could run it almost as well as current flagship devices. That means almost anyone with a somewhat recent Android device (except for the really low-end devices) should be able to run this.

Heard nothing but bad things about those, Tom.
I forgot to mention that the android should have built in controls.

Replace DS lite with 3DS and I'm in the exact same boat with you. Seriously, word for freaking word.

The emulator's source doesn't have any connection with any other emulator's, not even gpSP, so yeah it's from scratch. Compatibility is worse than desmume, but hopefully only a very small amount of that is due to intrinsic inaccuracies rather than bugs that can hopefully be fixed in time.

Well it's very subjective what passes as good enough emulation or what's considered extremely powerful, but I think a pretty mid-range phone or tablet should be okay for most people. Something with a couple Cortex-A9 cores (but not Tegra 2, it needs NEON) should work pretty well. On Pandora a lot of games run well and that only has a single Cortex-A8 @ 1GHz, but there are some efficiency advantages there vs running it on Android. Still, even a single core Cortex-A8 or Scorpion platform may be good enough some games.

*giggle* Thanks for your response! Also, for those of you who are total suckers when it comes to teasing yourself about things like this...

and

I'm BEYOND hyped! I cant wait. My tablet is somewhat old but should be powerful enough to handle this emulator.
