1. It's not going to blow up on you like windows would but it just makes things more complex and dangerous. Some people have some reasons they want to keep them linked but that is sort of a advanced setup and not using gateway as intended. It doesn't corrupt your NNID on emunand. See.6.

6. Yes. Just make sure your NNID is set up on sysnand before you create emunand. Formatting sysnand will wipe it out on sysnand but leave emunand fine. Keep backups of sysnand and emunand. Use the emunand tool. Frequent backups eliminate a lot of "oh shit! I fucked up, now what do I do?"

Having another SD card with a clean up to date emunand is helpful for using on eshop to get stuff. eshop will delete any DLC it sees that you don't own.

Now that answered all of my questions,
Though, I don't see myself installing any big cia's to my SD card, since its the default 4gb, so I don't really have any fear for an "I fucked up" sort of brick.
So I'll stick with one sd card and back up emunand and sysnand to my pc for safe keeping.

Hello everyone!
I've searched the forums a few times (arguably not well enough) and couldn't find any information about this, and I'm really unsure what section would be best to ask in so I'm gonna' ask here.

Is it possible to install NinjHax using a ROM onto a downgraded (from 9.2 to 4.5) 3DS, and if so, how?
I've tried myself a few times, but the 3DS just crashes when scanning the QR code. The screen kinda' just freezes and the music stops and doesn't do anything even after waiting a while.

I have a feeling I'm doing something incredibly stupid, but any help, advice or otherwise would be greatly appreciated!

Question about NNID and pre-installed/eshop games.

Recently I bought a 3DS XL (now FW 9.2) with Super Mario 3D Land pre-installed. Through a friend I also managed to get a code to download Zelda: LBW for free, which I downloaded from the eshop.

Right now, my Gateway card is being shipped and I expect it to arrive next week. My plan is to downgrade my sysnand so I don't have to use the internet exploit all te time. My question is, what will this do to the pre-installed games, and also their saves?

For as far as I know, I have no NNID yet so I'm not sure if I can still make one now without connecting my 3DS to the internet (though I think probably not...). As I've understood you need an NNID to download your digitally owned games again if necessary, right? Just in case downgrading wipes them off the system.

Have a WII U or a friend with one you can create a NNID on? WII u unlike 3ds can have 12.

You can try creating emunand, updating it and instead of trying to setup your NNID in the systems settings set it up from within eshop. Not sure if that will work but I did not enter my NNID in system settings when I created emunand, I did it in eshop when I went to download some title updates.

I am fairly certain the downgrade process is going to wipe any games from sysnand and your saves would be useless as well.

Im currently trying to install devmenu on my 3ds through the Palantine "run.bat", but it keeps failing to connect. Im pretty sure my 3ds is running the CFW (the screen flashed white then black), and I'm also sure I have the right IP address. Is there some additional thing I missed about connecting? It doesn't give any error codes, just shoots out "cannot connect"

Oh also, not sure if this is important, but on my 3ds, after installing the CFW through the DS exploit thing, if I try to open any menu after installing it, my 3ds freezes on a black screen.

Super Quick question!

I see on the Emunand and Save thread the OP says its better to format the Emunand instead of Sysnand when delinking them,
Can anyone explain why that is?
Whats the difference? I'm looking to delink them in the next couple of hours.

I didn't intend to give you a link. Fixed it.

I don't think you need a gateway card to dump a cart. Just put the launcher on the root of your SD.

Launcher.dat that that is put in the root of the internal SD card. It runs the browser exploit and starts the gateway menu, you cannot run gateway mode without the red gateway card howver.

If you dump your own cart you do not need to do anything with the header becuase it already has one. Scene dumps have them removed or a public header. That has been fine up until this point but there are now some reports of bans online and the cause may or may not be use of public headers, we don't know for sure yet.

R4i 3ds gold is a very generic term. You need to be very specific about which manufacturer you are refering to. For instance mine is r4i-DS.cn and is reported to work on the N3DS. Do you have an existing R4? They are cheap and I wouldn't make my decision on which 3DS based upon an R4 I have.

The cheapest is probably one of the gateway clones. You didn't ask what the best was or if they receive updates.

Yes you can do that. You only need the card to boot into emunand and then you can remove it. I do all the time to conserve battery life.
