Could you please post what you get on the terminal when trying to open It using Java -jar file.jar?I have Java 8u77 and no I do not have openjdk.

What does java -version return? @jimmyleen
Maybe you didn't change your JAVA_HOME variable properly.
If java -version already returns the correct version, the JAVA path should already be set correctly shouldn't it?java -version
java version "1.8.0_77"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_77-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.77-b03, mixed mode)
Edit: *facepalm* Linux can't put java in the correct directory without the user? That makes no sense

Oh. It's because I told you accidentally to type Java the first time, not java. Try again using java -jar SocketPunch.jar, and please post your results.
I know sudo is for root access, but, have you tried changing the file to some other directory and try opening it from there?sudo java -jar SocketPunch.jar
[sudo] password for name:
Error: Unable to access jarfile SocketPunch.jar

There you said sudo action, with your action being the file path.~/Downloads/java-8-oracle $ sudo '/home/name/Downloads/SocketPunch.jar'
[sudo] password for name:
sudo: /home/name/Downloads/SocketPunch.jar: command not found
There you said sudo action, with your action being the file path.
Try doing that, using the absolute path, but put java -jar in the middle:
sudo java -jar '/home/name/Downloads/SocketPunch.jar'
Alright, it's okay. Wouldn't you please help me though?I'm going to try filezilla
Alright, it's okay. Wouldn't you please help me though?
I don't have a Linux distro right now for testing, but some people reported Mint was working alright (and it's directly based upon Ubuntu). I just want to know if there's a problem specificly with Ubuntu, couldn't you just try that last one command, please?
If not, it's okay, thanks for your help so far.
Alright, and just to be sure, I suppose the app doesn't open, right?name@name ~ $ java -jar '/home/name/Downloads/SocketPunch.jar

Thanks! I'll need to get myself some partitions for testing on Mint and Ubuntu.
Well, I just got three people saying it worked alright on Mint.No it won't open, and just so you know if socketpunch does work on ubuntu I doubt it will work on linux mint. After all linux mint structuring is not as functional as ubuntu

I guess some people simply like to lie, even on technical stuff. Sigh...
Well, thanks.
Alright, thanks for your help!I don't think they lied I just think they found a way to run the program on mint.
