As reported earlier, Nintendo planned the inevitable end of WiiU production sometime "soon".

It appears that the time has finally come and the console has stopped being produced in Japan according to the hardware section of Nintendo Japan’s website.

UPDATE: In a statement to Kotaku, Nintendo of America stated that "WiiU production has ended globally."

True and it's a crappy line up from the start. Nintendo consoles survive the first year with backwards compatibility usually but there is none here.

I mean it had a few good games, plus it can play wii games. It was a failure because of marketing, nothing else. For about 2 years, i thought the Wii U was an addon for the Wii.

Not the awful specs, somewhat gimmicky controller, sub par development options, bad online service and bad menu driven feature set other things have possibly had for generations now?
I hate marketing as much as anybody with practical skills and find myself quite happy to give them a good kicking should they be at fault, assuming they did not force the engineering peeps to make the wii u as it turned out then there is plenty of blame to go around.

At least the wii u had games, i don't even remember anything about the vita lineup except that it has a port of binding of isaac lol

Not trying to bash the Wii U, but there are people out there who are hellbent on thinking the Vita is superior to the Wii U, which it isn't, the Vita is an abortive handheld that never should've been created by Sony. The Wii U has been blown open by homebrew and serves my purposes of USB "backups" and solid ports of emulators as well.

Prior to Snes9x 1.52, it wasn't using Blargg's S-SMP (audio) core, which has been reported to be cycle accurate 1:1 to real Snes hardware. That's why the sound effects are so off. Snes9x 1.52 and beyond use the cycle accurate audio core. The Wii U has plenty of raw power to run said emulator, that's why I like it more than the PSP for homebrew

99.99% of nintendo cl;ient buy their console mainly for first-party game or exclusive

ps1 outsold n64 due to third parties
ps2 outsold gcn due to third parties.
ps4 outsold wii u due to third parties.

The only thing they do right was the wii, even if it was for casuals, it got proper third party support.

Exactly, that's why wii was succesful. Not because of piracy, but the gimmick was new and appealing and you got a lot of new games from developers all arround the world. Hell, it even got pretty good versions of the cods games back then and they were selling pretty good...

But there are very very few games not exclusive to either ps4 or xb1 that also arent available for pc
