People here say we have achieved full control of the Wii U OS, but where's the progress. Why haven't we changed the Wii U menu look or make an 'FBI-like' app for the Wii U. Or changed the menu icon for Miiverse? Or at least made a single change to the OS besides patching SysNAND? Do we really only have userland control? Is there a reason we haven't done that yet?

We don't have coldboot sigpatches, one wrong change and your fucked, most of those changes you mentioned would probably brick your system unless you were to do it in a redNAND environment, which would allow you to do all of those things.

(This is a noob question) Can't we somehow delete the the system which detects the changes made and bricks your system.

Why would you delete signature checks in a redNAND, when sigpatches are already a thing?
I thought sigpatching made it so ANYTHING could be run, ignoring signed requirements? How could that result in a brick?

The current coldboot solution runs after the system boots, like menuhax for the 3ds, everything will already be loaded before cbhc even thinks to run, and if you broke something, cbhc wouldn't boot.

So why hasn't anyone done it yet? And would it be permanent?
nand backups are a thing, not permanent in redNAND.

I would like something like the 3DS has, where it pre-boots CFW patches first.

I would like a pair of solid gold underpants but i'm not complaining about it.
Well well then, go along and crack boot1 for me.
Sadly, I wouldn't know where to get started. :/

We're confusing each other. Why hasn't anyone 'thoroughly' modded the Wii U UI yet if they can do it safely in a redNAND environment?
Same as the DSi, it's mostly secure, but the few exploits it has are only "kind of" being worked on at the moment. People lost interest in hacking both systems for a long time.

Wow...I thought there was a lot more interest in the Wii U Homebrew scene. Dang!
