Use PCSXReARMed instead, why would you want a slower emulator like BeetlePSX?

Because PCSXReARMed cant do UPSCALEING !!!!! Its useless for me without that feature (with the exception of 2d games of course) why isnt it possible to Port espx to the Switch?? My 5 year old phone runs that emulator perfectly with hardly any issues and 4x internal resolution

There is a high resolution core option actually, but it's only available with the NEON renderer. I assume that isn't possible to include on Switch?

As you you might have noticed, epsxe isn't beetle psx. Even if you cant spell it.

As you might have googled, epsxe is a closed source project and cant be ported.

As you might have looked up the switches CPU runs at 1Ghz in portable and in docked mode, which isnt very much when it comes to emulation of 3D systems. Its especially not enough for beetle psx.

You see everything can be explained with logic. No "bu, bu, but why?!" needed. ;)

PSX emulation currently is at around 52-60 fps in most games, so people are playing with the concept of overclocking the cpu to even get psx rearmed full speed on ntsc games (some are, in some, a framedrop of 4 frames isnt the world, and you can always play pal versions (which run at 50hz) if you must) -- the only performance increases that would be possible without overclocking at this stage would come from a dynarec (dynamic recompiler), which isnt readily available, because the switch is a 64bit arm system, and your phone probably is a 32bit arm cpu. Different architecture. You could also start writing emulators in assembly, but then you need those Rainman style autistic sauvants to do it, that never are readily available, when you need them (movie was from an aera, when people where interested in actual plot development, so you can watch it - even as a mil...).).

Thats the part that tells you that people are already doing everything they can and thats possible. Its certainly not because of a lack of trying.

Is there any way to assign files in a folder to a core? I mean, without scanning the folder in retroarch. This way everything would be much easy instead of creating playlists manually.

No need to create them manually. Just use Playlist Buddy to generate one. You can find instructions in the op.

I'm having a ton of trouble figuring out how to use cheats with the ps1 core. I see a cheats folder on my sd within retroarch, and have tried every method under the sun, but I just cannot get any cheat files of any kind to work. If it matters, I'm trying for Castlevania Symphony of the Night.

Seriously, can anyone help me with this? I'm at my wits end. I tried using epsxe on pc, activating the cheat, saving the game and then renaming that save to an srm save that is compatible with retroarch, and that works, but the game cant actually save anymore for some reason when I do that. The only way seems to be to somehow get the cheat to work on retroarch itself. Which seems impossible.

Oh boo hoo. If you want it up and running full speed on the Switch, do it your damn self or better yet, learn to be patient and wait. So many entitled people who want emulators on Switch to run with absolute, immaculate perfection, well too bad, that's not happening anytime soon. Devs owe us nothing.

People are stupid. I am for one are so happy for the work the devs are putting in on the switch. It is amazing how far it is allready. But not to say that i will be happy when n64 is running

Dude, you're asking for cheat codes for SOTN? Really? As in, one of the easiest games in the entire franchise!?

I mean, I understand if you're trying to use that Rainbow cape cheat code (the one where, depending on the values inputted, will change the cape color in the game. There's a particular listed value in a list of recommended values that makes it look like Alucard's cape has taken LSD!), but it's not like there's a code that will get you into whatever was finished (if there was even any work done to begin with) of the Saturn areas of the PS1 version that hasn't already been documented by others (as in, the remains of the path to what would become the Underground Garden).

I would rather we get dynarecs first before we worry about pushing the Switch further than necessary. Once dynarecs are finished and implemented, and we get an idea of how far the Switch can go, then we can start worrying about putting our Switches' on the line here, IMO!

I have cheats working, it was trial and error but I figured it out. I'll tell you how to get them working when I return home (if nobody has beat me to it)

What do you expect a new port of an emulator to run like when there hasn't been dynarec or any speed optimizations implemented yet? Give it time.

Hello everyone. I just recently hacked my switch. Happy with the outcome thus far.

Just a few questions. I installed retroarch from both homebrew store and also the nsp.

For the n64 core, its very very slow. I seen a few youtube videos of users actually able to play N64 games on their switch. How is this possible?

Also, for PSX reARMEd, some games are flawless, while others the sound will get scratchy or clicky. lIs there a way to fix this? EI. Resident Evil 2 runs perfectly, Castlevania SOTN has scratchy audio.

For PS1, use Threaded Video for now to get the best performance. It's essentially a speedhack until we get a dynarec, which we'll need for the N64 to run as good as an N64 emulator could run at this point in time. I think N64 has Threaded Video as an option? I'd give that shot (I just didn't grow up with the N64 to really feel as excited about it's emulation as opposed the Dreamcast, hence why I haven't tried it. Doesn't help that I can imagine most games not working on it very well considering how many of them are 3D).

I do have threaded on. It runs very well. Just making sure there is no way to fix the sound as of yet. I know itll be fixed in the long run, just used to emulators having fixes that need to be implemented by us, the end user.
