Thread was fine til blawar brought it up even though devs have left because of his politics and bigotry funny to see who likes his posts just exposes them as bigots as well
People who liked his message aren't necessarily bigots. I for one had no idea about the whole scenario and just thought he made a good point. People shouldn't be guilty by association.

The very small community of devs working on their projects are doing a great job keeping them alive, just look at melonDS as you stated. But people work for gratification most of the time, and there's barely enough people here.

But the answer to the original question is very simple:
It's very hard/expensive to have a hacked Switch. Unless you're one of those who have been here for a while and were able to get an unpatched switch or the sxcore/lite, right now you have to spend a lot of money to get one of those old used consoles or risking a lot of money to buy a clone that you don't even know what will do to your console or if it will even work.

You think it feels dead, but on the contrary, most of what it can be done is already done and it's just a very small amount of people involved because of the immense privilege that is being able to mod your switch nowadays.

1. speed of flow of time changes when you get older. you just perceive it different (i - for example - compare it to the psp scene 10-15 years ago)
2. there are still advancements, not just everything gets posted here. for example, i dont understand why ppl still use goldleaf or tinfoil, while dbi is so much more advanced.
3. we pretty much have everything,
3a. emulation of everything what is speedwise possible (retroarch)
3b. new atmosphere versions soon after a new firmware release, thanks to @SciresM :yay:
4. what repeatedly gets mentioned as missing are only convenience and/or piracy functions
4a. mounting of xci instead of installing, more convernience than piracy ( i installed my 70+ bought cart games on a 256gb sd ) but iirc the implementation of sxos for this requires a genuine cert, so the feature itself is illegal already
4b. support for usb harddisks, more piracy than convenience

Atmospheré is still being updated OP, and honestly very quickly too.
I wouldn't compare the Switch to other systems that had a scene. Switch is different hardware with different revisions.

Checking the site every day for 'hope' or a 'glimpse' of something new sounds like you haven't got much going on everyday. I only say that because I once didn't have a job or something to occupy my time with other than video games.

Keep in mind that those who create Homebrew or find exploits do these things as a hobby, and usually hobbies are things you do when you have the time to do so.

The german homebrew site "wiidatabase.de" Put it best when they said:

Despite the ease of access to homebrew, development has been rather slow and the scene has always been rife with controversy that has divided the community.
Among developer circles, the Switch homebrew scene does not enjoy a good reputation

Original-text:
- src

Feels like people like to play around with the Vita more than Switch. Switch didn't even get that Bully port
I'm ~kinda~ expecting a similar thing to (maybe?) happen, once official support for the switch has ceased.
Then again... 85% of Switches are unexploitable (without modchip) so....

While I'd love to see more Homebrew game Ports such as Morrowind or even RCT2 I'm also not going to basically demand it if people want to do it they will do it and no amount of entitlement (which ive seen you show A LOT around here) will change that. also didn't know just how big of a POS blawar is. Blind baseless hate is never acceptable. also stop using the blanket statement of "politics" its called human decency

EDIT: Just realised your wording is terrible af, still unnecessary whinery ("also didn't know just how big of a POS blawar is.").

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion no matter how shitty it is, but keep it to yourself. Putting hate messages in homebrew where people will see it, people you're writing the hate messages about is just weird and just shows your character. I can't imagine having that much hate inside needing to cause people pain, using nintendo honebrew to push your hate agenda?? Mind blowing
It shows that those random inputs come from people who haven't been around when it happened. Yes, this kind of "joke" may be inappropriate to you, but guess what not everyone gives a shit. blawar is a troll, get over it.

sounds to me like you are just on his bandwagon having to perform damage control. there is no "joke" there. bigots will never admit to being bigots and cover it with "jokes" instead

I agree with you. People should keep their political opinions out of homebrew:

https://github.com/Qyriad/fusee-launcher/blob/master/fusee-launcher.py#L11

# this code is political -- it stands with those who fight for LGBT rights
# don't like it? suck it up, or find your own damned exploit ^-

So support LGBT(basic human rights) is political now? You really are just a piece of shit aren't you? There is no difference between including the LGBT flag in homebrew, than a normal country flag, or hell even something like an anime picture.

You conviently ignore every call out for you doing this same exact shit, just on the other exterme in the form of hate speech and harasmment. But yet you're so quick to pul out some basic thing and call it political just to have an excuse to be an ass

You're the textbook defintion of only seeing/hearng what you want to and nothing else.

not to defend his bigot ass but the code itself calls it political and he sees that as somehow a defense for his hate mongering

now lets see what you did is pure hate while what they do supports people who get treated like shit unnecessarily by people like you. do you see the massive difference here?
Yeah but don't claim it's just about politics then. Idk what « hateful » thing he did tho. You can say that you don't find any problem with people standing for their rights tho, but saying that you don't want politics overall just seems kinda hypocrite if you are okay with some and not with others.
I mean, I don't like political stuff in my homebrews too, even if I do agree with those views, I'm just not here to talk or think about politics so I just prefer when my homebrews just do what I want them to do, but in the end the dev just do whatever the fuck he wants so I just suck it up, and if I agree with those views that's even easier.
LGBT rights is anything but poltical.
Eh ... It is tho.
I mean, I understand what you mean, saying that lgbt people should have the same rights as others shouldn't be a political issue, and I do agree with that. But literally everything is political, and lgbt related stuff is totally related to politics. And lgbt related stuff will always be political, just like racism stuff will always be political because some people just don't like others for some (stupid) reasons, gotta deal with those.
Sadly, supporting basic human rights is politics, because God knows why some don't like that.

what I don't want is hate mongering but of course people have to blanket it under politics in order to make the good deeds look just as bad as the bigots actions
