While the result of the emulated Nintendo 64 games on the Switch might have left fans wanting for more, others were eager to get their hands on a modernized N64 controller. However, if you didn't already get yours ordered, you likely won't be able to get your hands on one until next year, at the earliest. The $49.99 controller is sold out on both the Nintendo US and UK storefronts, with the former noting that while you can't order any for now, more controllers are on the way, and will be available sometime in 2022.

As far as I could tell, it's not available here anyway. The My Nintendo Store doesn't ship to Norway and there isn't anywhere else that sells it officially that does that I could find. So I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get one.

They're Switch controllers. So yes, they just work. But they're not Xinput, Steam's Xinput emulation takes care of that.

Got it. Paired up with PC just fine. Played some Duke Nukem 64. Retroarch sees it as a joycon. Kinda weird.

However, it will not pair up to my Switch on Atmosphere.. Even though I'm on the updated firmware and latest AMS. Interesting. It shows up as a Pro Controller.

Edit: Played some OoT and I had to up the sensitivity in Retroarch just to be able to run. Gross.

The build quality is pretty good. It's heavier than a regular N64 controller. To be expected given what's inside of it.

In terms of actual comfort or functionality it pales in comparison to a Pro Controller. 50 dollars for nostalgia and a less comfortable experience….yay?

Anyways I’m hoping for a Saturn pack one of these years. Make it happen, Sega.

How are C-buttons better than any other button? The octagonal gate is actually a downside.

One advantage? The proper ergonomics in playing N64 titles. Especially in games like Tony Hawk or even certain FPS titles like Turok or Duke Nukem Zero Hour.

The GameCube controller is easily one of, if not THE best to use in Smash Bros. The way the combat system and controls work make it more fluent and comfortable.

Still, it all boils down to preference. If you're that intent to use one type of controller for all of your gaming needs? That's cool. Some agree with you. Some don't.

I disagree on all counts. I do agree that some games are better played with some controllers, but none of the mentioned ones are the case. Still, you do you.

Unless you hacked your Switch is not worth it, the official Nintendo 64 emulation is terrible on the Switch. Heck is better on the Wii and that thing is two console generations ago!
