So I had my 3ds xl sent out for repair of a damaged top screen. Took way to long to get the screen in and now he has damaged an FPC connector and says he has to replace the mother board and do a system transfer. I don’t think this system was even up to date on boot9strap and luma but these things will cause issue if he does a system transfer right? I’m asking if he can just not do the transfer and return me a stock system.…..

No, things like that will not affect System Transfer. People regularly do System Transfers with CFW; all you need to do is install CFW on the new unit and run Faketik.

Hello, I have a couple questions in regards to installing an english translation rom for a gba game emulated on my 3ds. Specifically for Klonoa Heroes, since a full english translation was recently released. The gba game files are cia files. However, the file for the patch is a bps file.

Is there somewhere specific I have to put the bps file on my 3ds?
Is there a way to link the bps file to the cia file and can it be done on the fbi program?
I've never done this before so I'm not entirely sure how to tackle this, so any help is appreciated.

I don't know if this will work, but try putting the bps file in luma/titles/title id . that's usually how you had mods and patches to games. though, most are standalone files that go in a folder named romfs. a patch like that wouldn't go in there. make sure to allow game patching in luma settings.

Thanks for replying! I enabled game patching in luma. However, I'm not finding the folders luma/titles/title id to put the bps file in. There is a luma folder on the sd card, but no title/title id folder. All that's in the luma folder is a folder named payloads and a bin file.

I guess it didn't work. that's the only suggestion I had.
That's okay. Thank you very much for helping me through it though! I'll keep fiddling around with it to see if I can get it working. And at least now I know of a way to do translation patches! Even though it didn't work for this game, it might work for something else!

Hello! Back in 2016, I started to use one of these "Non-permanent" CFW on my 3DS (I'm not sure if it was Luma, the only thing I remember is that if I removed the SD card, it booted like it was an "unhacked" console). Since then, the console firmware (v.9) and the CFW remained untouched, until this week. The other day, I finally decided to upgrade the console firmware to the latest version and to install Luma in a proper way. Everything went smooth... until I remembered I didn't export my CIA save files.
I have, however, a backup of all the SD contents before installing the updates. Checking the files, I saw that on the path "Nintendo 3DS/id0/id1/00040000/gameID" there is a ".sav" file for every game I had installed, so I thought that maybe I would just need to copy those files and paste them on the same path of my updated 3DS... but it doesn't work. I tested a dozen of games, and for all of them, I get a message saying that the save data is corrupted, and that a new save file will be created.

My question is, is there a way I can import those old save files into the console? As I have said, I have a full backup of the files on the SD before upgrading, and also an even older backup of the console NAND. Losing the savefiles wouldn't be a drama, but if possible, I would prefer to have them back.

Regards!
