if there is an update, scroll over the game's icon and see if it says an update is available. you can update games via the eshop unless they're a different region or I think region free. the update is available thing works for any game, region free or different region, just can't install the update that way unless it's the same region as your 3ds.

check in fbi for the dlc in titles. it should be 004000c iirc, then the rest should be the same as the game. that's how it is on the wiiu, just with a 5 instead of a 4.
Upon further research, it seems that the two DLC that are missing are listed as Japanese exclusive. Thank you guys for the help, but I think I'm good now

Hello,

Does anyone have any advice for trying to copy the contents of my 3ds onto a new 3ds? I would like to have all of my titles transfer over, but still keep the titles on the original system. I would also like both systems to have separate NNIDs so they can play online with each other. The new system already has CFW; it had a NNID from the previous user but I reset that in GodMode.

I found multiple tutorials here on how to do the system transfer, but I think most of them would erase the original 3ds, or copy over the NNID from the original to the new system. Has anyone had any success on creating a copy of a 3ds system and still having the original work? If I could create a copy of the system on both I could erase the NNID manually and set a new one. Or, if it's just easier to reinstall everything on the new system I could do that as well (don't really care about save data transferring). Main thing is I'm trying to save time, so I would like to avoid manually downloading all the cias and installing that.

I appreciate anyone who has any tips or a link to a tutorial that would accomplish what I'm trying to.

Thanks everyone! This community is awesome.

I've set up retroarch on my 3ds and I can run firered no problems, but I tried to play Pokemon clover (rom hack) and it runs very slowly, but I know its not the rom as I used the rom on openemu and it ran fine, if anyone has any ideas why this is happening that would be great.

How (or can you) restore a NAND backup from an old 3DS console to a different 3ds console? I have my NAND backup, but when I try to restore it in godmode 9 in the (safe) option it just says couldn’t restore backup is corrupt. Can anyone help I have stuff in there since I was like 8 so it means a lot to me. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I have a region swapped 3ds and there aren't any downsides for me. You can still use multiplayer, and have an NNID and use the eshop despite what people will tell you. I forget that my 3ds is region swapped sometimes honestly. Here's how I got this all working for me:

Follow 3ds hacks guide but don't "install and delete" your downloaded cias just "install" them. Once you get done with that, follow their other guide to region swap, then perform a system format. Extended memory games (Pokémon ultra moon as an example) broke for me after the region swap, which a system format fixed. The system format also let me make a new NNID and use the eshop again. After that is when you would be reinstalling the cias that you conveniently didn't delete. Finally run TWLfix to fix your TWL firm which can break after region swapping.

That was just how I got everything working for me on my 3ds and in theory it should work for you too. As always, make sure you have a nand backup before region swapping or doing anything potentially risky.

Hopefully this is helpful for somebody lol xD

Also yes there is a new freeshop alternative checkout hshop.
Just curious, but did you have an NNID linked on this 3DS before you tried this, or was it a brand new one? Any other details you could think of that might make this situation unique for you?

Also, has anyone been able to replicate this process?

I suppose if I try it and it doesn't work I can always just restore the NAND.

With the eShop going away next year, is anyone working on a way to softmod a 3DS without needing to download Pokemon Picross? I'm just curious, since the current method sounds like it will stop working once the eShop closes.

I want to buy a New 3DS XL and am trying to figure out how urgently I'll need to do that since they're pretty pricey right now.

Someone please help me, I just can't get FTPD to work. I've looked for 2 days already and EEEEVERYWHERE says to leave the name and password blank, or that it should show up in my file manager. It doesn't show up and no matter what ftp client I use, leaving login blank, clicking the guest or anonymous checkbox - this is what I get. And Yes I have tried both FTPD and FTPD classic. I tried using a static ip address with my tablet and that just made my 3ds change it's ip when I tried to connect

You need to set as anonymous iirc.

Please stop trying that! If you are curious what is gonna happen if you "succeed" in restoring a backup from a different console: We've had this topic just a few days before.

Why are you trying that? Is there any special data you want to access? It might be possible to extract stuff with ninfs.

You were 8 ya say. and you are what. 34 from your profile? Are you sure its even a 3ds you had? The console is only 11 years old. Your claiming a console thats 26 years old.

First make sure the Ftpd is up to date.
If you're using a user & password, remove it & install it again, as you can't change it to anonymous without doing so, iirc.
You obviously have to set a manual ip address so the connection won't be uninterrupted. Set up Filezilla or whatever ftp client you're using, put the ip adress, port number, no pass.
I do the same with AndFTP on my phone, for some reason my pc doesn't always connect as it should, but my phone does, so i use instead. Maybe try it if it doesn't work with your pc..

Surely you have already asked, but is it possible to exchange Pokémon between 2 hacked Nintendo 3DS?

Sorry if it has already been answered before, thanks in advance.
