-Warcraft I:
In terms of atmosphere nothing beats the first game. Warcraft II was great but more cartoony. Warcraft III looked good but ultimately very generic. Warcraft I needs a remake due to how dated the controls are. There are files to modernize some of the aspects (but I didn´t get them to work). It would be difficult to keep the style in tact though.

-Street Fighter I:
Many people don´t realize that the controls aren´t broken but work differently: Hold the button, input the command, release the button; I didn´t know that when I was a kid; we need a remake of that game, perhaps in the style of SF2 - but no additional characters (but a VS mode with more characters than just Ryu and Ken, obviously)

How about you?

Densha de go!
The first titles are superior in my view. You can really see how they worked hard to get it to work on the ps1.

Tokyo Xtreme racer 1&2
Again, realizing the tokyo highway on a dreamcast was really impressive. Genki come back!

Famicomwars (nes and snes)
The AI is too retarded to deal with zergrushes but the simple design is great. (dont like the endless dialoges of later titles)

I haven't played the games but as I have got into the netflix series I've been working up to playing some Witcher games. Apparently the first one has pretty bad controls.

Gonna try and think of more examples with games I'm actually into, mind's a bit blank right now.

Battlefield 1942. I would love something like Forgotten Hope but with modern assets and big community. It is the only Battlefield I like, Desert Combat seriously destroyed the license after Road to Rome. 1943 was okey-ish, but it is console exclusive, so big nope for me.

Since the thread was closed I want to say some closing words.

I have sympathy for you and find the anti-white propaganda you have to endure from those coastal elites outragous. Stay strong.

Back to the topic.
Thank you, my friend. And I actually don´t have a small penis, I´m transitioning to a hunk. Already bought pills, stretchers and so on. My pronouns are "wow" and "dam".

@stranno: Battlefield 1942 is the first in the series? I actually thought there was a "Battlefield".

It was the first in the series, tho Battlefield 1942 (2002) is basically a Codename Eagle (1999) 2.0, a previous game from Refraction Games, which became DICE in 2000.

Battlefield 1942 had a gigantic mod community, probably the biggest in 2002-03. Among all those mods there was a brilliantly crafted one called Desert Combat, developed by Trauma Studios. They basically invented the helicopter and jet physics in the Battlefield engine, which was pretty difficult by the time. After winning two "best mod of the year" awards, DICE hired Trauma Studios and they basically "screwed" the Battlefield series with the modern take, jets and much faster gameplay. They began with Secret Weapons (a really bad expansion), Vietnam, Battlefield 2, etc.

Of course that's my opinion, a lot of people like those games. I would have liked that Forgotten Hope (an expanded Battlefield 1942 with much more units and weapons) would have been Desert Combat.

I only have a reluctant one:

Fallout 1

The son: it's usually the second or third entry in a series that really works out the kinks and rough edges, or that really defines the formula that makes it a classic.

Remakes can at best capture the essence of why you like it,but can often bring a'wtf was i thinking? ' moment. Original C&C is a good example: I never realised how campy the cutscenes were or how broken the balance until i replayed it as the remaster.

Likewise: warcraft 1 is... Okay for its time. Hardly any real asymmetry but serviceable then. I wouldn't play a remaster for free today.

Besides the superior art style and music, Warcraft 1 also has an interesting road system (and the fact that there is only one town hall at the start position makes for an interesting late game). I don´t like remasters in general. I mean remakes.

I have played Zelda 1 in recent years. A remake in the BOTW-engine would be cool. But the lack of villages would hurt.
I think a remake would need reimagined dungeons to work. From what I can remember from when I played it a long time ago, getting through the dungeons required you to throw bombs at random walls and hope one opens a hidden room.

I wish FKonami would remake Metal Gear 1&2 , or just sell away the rights of Metal Gear franchise.

I believe it's almost impossible cauz they are so busy making new PACHINKO machines....

Actually the dungeons were pretty straight-forward. I don´t think I had to look up walkthroughs that much within dungeons. But I agree. They were lacking puzzles.

    Also somebody is remaking it

@SylverReZ, the other game where I found newgrounds is new york shark

Spoke to Tom Fulp the other day, if he can find his old Newgrounds site content like the mini Flash animations from the 2000's that played on the portal.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
So far no response, but he did say that he'll find them. Wayback Machine doesn't have em.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Another being Pico VS Bear, the original 1999 version before Jim Henson filed a DMCA takedown.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
The 2006 versión was made when the flash portal was made
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Many people thought it was lost, but was discovered that he hid it on the same page.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, although the "secrets" system where the game was has been removed. Also pico vs uberkids had a netplay versión that was shutdown, although the swf file has been found
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Nope. There are two download buttons on the same page, where you can download the original under a file called "bear.exe". "bear2.exe", however, is the updated game in a Flash projector. P.s. this was on the archived Pico page from 2000.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's been there for a long time, too. People who search for lost media don't look hard enough lmao.

@SylverReZ, also the pico 2 demos used to be only for the newgrounds patrons but they are on internet archive too (https://archive.org/download/picos_school_2)

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Iirc the demos were removed from newgrounds in 2022
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, or well only the demo with mindchamber's style was on newgrounds

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Fun fact @SylverReZ: iirc one of the goals on the fnf Kickstarter stated that pico 2 would be finished but the Kickstarter didnt get enough money for that goal to be fullfiled
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, FNF sucks, their community is toxic as hell.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@SylverReZ its a single player game
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, Yea but it has a shitton of mods with their own songs and stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, and quite a lot of people involved in those mods get cancelled
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Newgrounds wasn't the birth of FNF; rather, it was games where you beat up celebrities and parodies.
