Online games take a few days to get the word that an update is out. Your ability to play online will be blocked by the end of the week if you don't install the update, most likely. I also played online today without updating, but it probably won't last.

I am kindda new, is cfw typically updated fast on 3ds?

It depends if a) Nintendo fixed anything that would make Luma not boot anymore, and b) how easy it is for the devs to find a workaround. I won't be updating until more information is available. This update changed something related to the Friend List, which is a critical part of the seedminer exploit, so it's possible that updating will make it harder to install CFW on systems that aren't modded yet. It's too early to tell.

Luma3DS still boots but BootNTR will not work until it's updated.

Is this different from ntrboot? If so, has ntrboot also stopped working? I've only just come across a flash cart that might work for me and it hasn't arrived yet. I need it to unbrick my 3DS. The chance of this being a problem probably isn't very high, but I'd still like to know in case issues end up occurring anyway.

very. ntrboot in question is the cheat app that you can use for the 3ds.

I don't believe anything has been done to affect online play with 3DS games. Multiplayer should still work fine.

RE the update, I'm not doing shit until everything has been given the all clear. I have no need for it so I'm not risking a fuck up just for the sake of it.

Eventually Nintendo will update all the online game servers to require 11.16.0-48 in order to play online. It just doesn't happen automatically whenever an update comes out, so online play will probably work for a few more days before you'll be forced to update.

I'm not really sure why a Luma update can't just lie to the Nintendo servers to say you're on the latest firmware so you can play online regardless of your system version, but I'm sure the devs would have already included that functionality if it were feasible to implement it.

Now that would be sweet. Maybe the future holds stuff like that, who knows. It'll be great to see what people can do once Nintendo finally stop trying to block stuff.

I'm surprised Nintendo still bothers ngl, but by reading this, it looks like they're making modding a 3DS a bit harder. At least Luma still works so I don't have to figure out how to update it. (nvm it's quite easy to update)

it loads the bootntr menu on your system so you can have system plugins (like for hacking games or snickerstream)

It really does feel like Nintendo has an issue with pride and principle more than other businesses. It often feels like they're taking personal revenge rather than actually protecting their (massive, astronomical, definitely not significantly harmed by low level piracy) profits.

Hi guys i was just gonna sit and try to homebrew my new Nintendo 2ds XL but now im wondering if its safe? Should i do it or wait?
