Citra 3DS emulator is also shutting down development, GitHub repo taken down

The EULA doesn't go into effect when buying a game/software, but by using it. See the disclaimer at the start of most games. While downloading is sometimes allowed, it's never allowed to use if you do not own the original copy. This is the case for both Europe and US, and maybe other places.

When talking about laws, we mostly look at the US and Europe. China for example couldn't care less about copyright laws. Don't know about the Bahamas, but I would guess similar. While EULA is not a law, it is legally binding. "It is also important to check the terms of sale or license...

https://www.nintendo.com/sg/support/switch/eula/usage_policy.html This is Nintendo's EULA, to which you agree to when using the Switch or its games. (1) The Software is licensed, not transferred to you (4)You may not copy, duplicate, publish, transmit publicly, lease, modify or reverse...

Citra 3DS emulator is also shutting down development, GitHub repo taken down

It's one of those things people believe, but isn't really true. Without going too much in detail: the law often quoted for creating backups applies to computer software, not video games. That law also stated that you can create a backup for archival purposes, but not one that you can use however...

Citra 3DS emulator is also shutting down development, GitHub repo taken down

The difference is, Windows can be used for plenty of different things, while an emulator only has the purpose of mimicking a device. They can say Yuzu wasn't created for piracy and such, but even the creators know that that's exactly what it was created for. One could argue you could create...

You can still find it, just google it. Most likely a fork will be created from it.

Sweet summer child. The fact that you think that is corporate ass-licking says a lot about your mindset. Get a grip on reality. Don't like Nintendo? Don't use their products, don't even pirate them.

Citra 3DS emulator is also shutting down development, GitHub repo taken down

God this generation is so entitled. Mad because Nintendo shut down an emulator, for a device that's still being sold. I hear people moan about game preservation. Want to preserve all these games? Go out and f*cking by them. This emulator was used for 99.9% to pirate stuff, and they were making...

Nintendo officially announces the end date for 3DS and Wii U online services

It's not just the size, it also needs maintenance and moderation. All in, it's just not worth the trouble, especially for such a small user base.

Nintendo officially announces the end date for 3DS and Wii U online services

There is a huge difference between servers for one or two apps, or for a few dozen. The extra cost would be a bit more than a few pennies. You might want to look up how servers actually work to really understand.

Nintendo officially announces the end date for 3DS and Wii U online services

Because running servers cost money, and at some point there just aren't enough players online anymore to justify the cost.

Homebrew How can I port a PC app to the 3DS?

No offence, but the fact that you even ask this questions means you do not have the skills to convert it. Short answer to help you out: Most likely not

Nintendo has taken down the Link's Awakening fan remake

No. Not harming anyone? If only one person plays this instead of the version Nintendo offers through Switch Online, it can be debated it hurts Nintendo as they lost on a potential sale. It could also be debated that it puts Nintendo in a bad spot, because people will say "how can an indie...

Nintendo has taken down the Link's Awakening fan remake

Fair use always has been a gray area legally. I do know there have been cases, where this argument was made. Offcourse some developers do allow fan based games, but it's more a favor by those developers, than it is required by the law. In the end, you're dealing with copyright or trademarked...

Nintendo has taken down the Link's Awakening fan remake

I'm wondering, are you trolling at this point, or actually this dumb? Because this really is... Wow... First of all: fan comics fall under fair use, a total difference. However, if I would redraw an existing comic, picture by picture, it would no longer be fair use. Emulators do not have any...

the legal drinking age here in the US is 21, as some of you may know, but i think either it should be 18 or the age you're an adult should be 21.
    +2
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and i know what you may be thinking, "why become an adult at 21? doesn't that mean that banging an 18 year old would be illegal?"
first of all, being in a relationship with someone who's 18 is technically ok, as long as it started when they were 18, but the age gap is still weird depending on how old you are. besides, the age of consent differs between different states
    +1
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
also my reasoning for adult age being 21 is because the reason that's the drinking (and now smoking) age is because it "gives them more time to think rationally and not drive drunk"
so you should have that extra time to mature and think rationally before going to serve in the military or vote
    +1
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
tl;dr the "adult" age and the legal drinking age (and voting age) here in the US should be the same
