Things you recently bought or got

I collect real guns. Debating picking up a 10/22 takedown this weekend, and maybe get a "cheap" silencer (Silencer can be $100, but the tax stamp is always $200. Grr.) so I can plink in the woods without bothering the neighbors down the road - and take care of these darn chipmunks and squirrels...

Homebrew Weird question: Are there any BBS clients for the DS/DSi?

Recently been playing around with BBS boards and learning about telnet using a couple Linux systems. I find BBS boards fascinating, how they were small social networks from before the days of the internet. There are still quite a few that are active, and host old games and content for systems...

Google Stadia release, pricing and games announced

Ok, buy one, let us know how it goes. I'm a network tech. I'm not touching it with a 10 foot pole.

Google Stadia release, pricing and games announced

I absolutely hate the "games as a service" model. I was recently burned by it. A game called Worlds Adrift that was in Early Access recently decided it will shut down in July, and they will not be making the servers open source or have any way for users to play offline. So I dropped $65 for a...

Nintendo has no more games scheduled for release on the 3DS

This makes me sad. I was super late to the 3DS party, but the app store and virtual console library is so much more massive and has much more quality than the Switch. And you don't need to subscribe to Nintendo Online just to play old NES games. They're available for everyone. Not to mention...

Google Stadia release, pricing and games announced

Networks fluctuate. Especially depending on location and ISP. Some days I get 300mbps down, others I get 30. And this is common regardless of if you're rural or in a city. The Stadia is going to be DOA. I'm amazed Google is still going through with it. Think of all the money they'll lose...

    ROM Hack AP-patch preservation

So I have an interesting problem. Running Linux Mint, trying to use the DS-Scene tool using Wine. It's not recognizing xdelta files at all. That's what you're supposed to use with it for the AP patches, correct? Sorry, been years since I modded Nintendo consoles so I'm a noob at this...

[breaking] Ataribox renamed VCS, still no reason to buy one

Or one of the many, many, many plug and play Atari things that are like $20. There seems to be some hype around this new Atari thing and I have no idea why. It's just Atari trying to bank on nostalgia again like they have for the past 20 years. There's nothing innovative about it. It will be...

HTC's Vive Pro Headset Available To Pre-Order

Sweet, the original complete package is at $500? Might need to save up for that. Compared to other hobbies that isn't TOO bad, but I need to save for projects around the house first. Must be a responsible adult.... However not being wireless is a dealbreaker. My office isn't big enough...

Hacking How high are the chances that we could see a dual boot option with Android?

God this is a stupid notion... Sorry, not sorry. Android OS only works with preapproved hardware. There is no way to get an Android OS to even *begin* to recognize a Nintendo Switch. The internals are too unique.

Gaming Your predictions for the most under utilised aspect of the Switch?

I keep forgetting it's a touchscreen! At least the IR thing on the joycon is pretty obvious, but the touchscreen is almost completely ignored! However I believe it will be more utilized if/when there is ever a web browser or things like a youtube app. It's way better to type on the screen...

Comment by 'chrisman02' in 'local news'

This is why I very, very rarely watch the news anymore. They only hunt down and report on the worst things. Never the people helping others in need, never the good stories about police, never anything positive. It was a major factor in my depression.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp launches today

So I've put quite some time into it. LOADED with microtransactions, even has an ad pop up to buy stuff if you stand still too long. EVERYTHING is timer based, even buying furniture. Unless you pay of course. I hate mobile games like this. Yes you have to wait for things in the real games...

"Animal Crossing... In your pocket!" Um... did they forget about Wild World, Happy Home Designer, and New Leaf? God I hope this isn't the future of animal crossing...

It's not the movies or games downloads that I would worry about, like breaking into networks, downloading encrypted things, spying on network traffic. I have seen so many "Top Secret" seals on files when I was a kid
