    Homebrew Wii U Linux

@PetrusAlves: Yes! We're still active, though development has taken a bit of a back seat to some other CafeOS-side work that I can't quite talk about publicly yet. Still not much progress on the GPU front.

Gunstorm: Wi-Fi is *not* working; we're still RE'ing how the firmware upload works.

@laharl22 Like I said earlier, ping us over at discord.fortheusers.org in the #linux-android channel for support. I'm asking you to do this for two reasons: Endless support back-and-forth can and will clog up this discussion thread quarky, rw and I don't actively monitor GBATemp; we respond...

@laharl22 Ping us over at discord.fortheusers.org in the #linux channel for faster support; I only check GBATemp every once in a while.

@laharl22 What version of HBL are you running? CFW Booter (and all ELF homebrew, for that matter) doesn't boot properly on HBL 2.0

I suppose that's the proper way to do things on forums heh, forgive my obsessive nickping habits :) Ironically, speaking of quotes, I mis-read your initial quote, ha! I thought you were replying "You didn't say anything" directly to *me*, rather than Gunstorm, heh :) Sorry about that!

@smileyhead ? Not sure what you mean by that. @kokoski Sorry to get back to you so late; I would love to speak further! Could you contact me privately? https://compucat.me/about for contact info.

@Zhongtiao1 Whoa, seems I missed this! Sorry about that! linux-wiiu isn't actively being developed right now; we're focusing on a few other projects at the moment. We'll be sure to let you know when new developments come up, though!

Homebrew [RELEASE] 4TU Presents: VNC for Wii U, or how we pulled off Mac OS X!

Homescreen's possible; for now, IP address/password are set using a config file on SD. RDP/LTSP would take much more work; we basically ported an existing VNC engine. Adding RDP/LTSP support would require finding SDL-compatible engines for each, porting each, then integrating each.

Happy April Fool's! Yup, some of you all guessed it: Mac OS X wasn't real. A VNC client, though, definitely was! Check out the video below for more, or have a look at the source code! https://gitlab.com/4TU/wiiu-vnc

DinohScene, yes! Tiger would definitely run a bit faster, especially since we're missing the AltiVec instruction set that speeds up Leopard so much on a G4/G5. I hadn't thought to try OS9 though. I'll have to track down a copy....

EDIT: Happy April Fool's! Check out the *actual* release powering this: VNC for Wii U! After much behind the scenes work, ForTheUsers is proud to present our latest Wii U endeavor: a full port of Mac OS X Leopard to the Wii U! I'll let the video demo speak for itself:

So, here's the scoop on playback. The PowerPC isn't great for software video decoding....but because Nintendo went with a Radeon GPU, we also get AMD's UVD video decoder as part of that. This is *huge* - it'll likely allow 1080p playback, and definitely at least 720p. I'm honestly going to take...

Besides the fact that Kodi dropped PPC support, the biggest issue is the lack of GPU support. The GPU is our ticket for so many things: HDMI audio, hardware-accelerated rendering, hardware-accelerated video decoding, 3D...the works. You'd still have CPU bottlenecking issues (no SMP), but...

@Gunstorm re: rootfs on SD card, it's easiest done using fdisk or gparted in Linux. We don't have uinput compiled in right now; if you built the module yourself or compiled the kernel yourself you could likely get it to work. Emulation will pretty much fail entirely - we don't even have 2D...
