Pretty much nothing can go wrong, worse case scenario is getting banned, that's all. No risk to your 2DS as long as you got the .CIA from a trustworthy source.
If you installed it with a CIA then the one you used might be bad, try downloading it from another source. If it's a legitimate copy then like a comment higher up said its probably your CPU speed and ram.
