I found a solution: They changed the syntax in later versions, so accessing now requires getting the DeviceID. In Windows PowerShell I used the following command:
wmic diskdrive get Caption,DeviceID,InterfaceType
Which told me that the deviceID was:
\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE11
Which means I had to...
Yes, I understand that I CAN mod the PS3 to run PS1 and PS2 games, but I specifically purchased a PS2 so that I wouldn't have to do that and that's what I am trying to mod right now.
Like I said, WinHIIP has some serious bugs, but reading more about it the bugs seem a bit easier to understand...
Unfortunately, WinHIIP has some serious reported bugs hence why it's marked as obsolete in places. If it works for you, great, but I would only try that as a last resort and only from a computer that I don't mind reformatting if it gets screwed up.
That's what I use doing with my PS3 FAT, but...
Yes, it does use a special format which is why you have to use special programs to access the file system. In my case I am trying to use PFS Shell, which stands for "Playstation File System Shell". There's also a program with a GUI, but it has a known bug of causing all connected drives to be...
Since there's no way that I'll be able to repair my PS3 I decided to go with a PS2 for older games and a PS3 slim for PS3 games. I purchased a used modded PS2, but it came with a broken DVD drive so I can't rip my games onto it and it can't connect via a network cable either, so I figured I...
I absolutely HATE people who push things on people who explicitly say they don't want to. It just makes me want to use it even less. Please STOP trolling topics that have specific questions by pushing something else onto them. This isn't a new problem either. All over this forum for the past few...
Hi, I recently decided to pull my Wii out of storage to play GameCube games since Nintendont on Wii U will randomly not recognize the Gamecube controller adapter and I was tried of fighting with it.
I kept it together with it's SD card and hard drive, and even found my original gamecube game...
Thanks for this! A few weeks ago I encountered this error. I loaded up my Wii U, briefly saw the icons show up, then got a black screen with error 160-1400. I called Nintendo about it and their only advice was to buy a new console. When I asked about the games I purchased for the Wii and vWii...
So changing the APU would result in the keys changing and therefore prevent the drive from being read? If that is the case what are the odds of a reballing helping where a reflow wouldn't?
A reflowing wasn't effective. They think it needs a new APU, but they don't have the equipment to replace the APU. Before I drop the money on mailing this to someone else I need to know if replacing the APU will change the eid_root_key or now. Does anyone know?
Hi, I am going through the motions of a PS3 repair.
When I last played my PS3 FAT , which was a few years ago at least, I was having some overheating issues which indicated that it needed new thermal paste, but before I could schedule to have that done one of the crashes led me to a message...
It's not arbitrary. Nintendo doesn't decide what is legal and what isn't. They say that all modding is illegal as well, but that doesn't mean it is. My definition of piracy is fairly straight forward: If I don't own a copy that is in use it's piracy. If I do own the copy it isn't. Yes, Nintendo...
I haven't played my Switch n a month or so, just been playing Xbox, and just picked to play lil and Damn that A and B, X and Y being reversed always gets me.
I agree Tears is great. I even played thru it completely twice. I've been hooked on playing thru Fallout 4 again though, after they released the next gen version for Series S/X. Is pretty cool update.
