EDIT: Code has been donated to a worthy cause :) thanks for all the advice
So I've been given a SX OS key that I don't want, since I'm not interested in backups.
Any suggestions on where I can donate it, ideally in the interests of the homebrew community in general (not piracy)?
Thanks
I'm not seeing that pattern. If I had to gamble I'd say the 2 things causing the bans are manipulation of logs and dodgy certs.
The people who haven't used backups seem to have either cleared their logs or they had errors of some kind.
Yeah I know you weren't suggesting that, just making the point though.
I'm not fully convinced that a NAND restore is the solution either. We live in an age of machine learning, AI and crazy-advanced security. It's not outside the realms of possibility for Nintendo's servers to realise that...
It might not be banned though, and you'd have to sell it as a "potentially banned console" at a significantly reduced price.
There's no way I'd sell it without being completely open either. I really wouldn't like the idea that I'm unloading a potentially banned console onto someone unsuspecting...
I'm wondering this exact same thing as well. I've used SX OS once to test that it works with an emulator, no backups or save edits etc. I only went obline briefly on OFW after booting SX just to install the SD card update.
Considering doing a full reset.
Which error log though? This is the bit that's confusing me, I keep hearing about there potentially being some other super secret log tucked away somewhere. Surely if we're at the point where we can run homebrew we'd already know about this? Why hasn't someone come across it?
Guessing it has something to do with Freeshop on the 3DS being an embarrassing nightmare for them. First response is to drop a brick wall inbetween your console and their servers.
Thanks. Sorry I probably should have opened with "I'm not banned"!!!
I'm kinda split on what to do right now. I could chance it and just connect online on OFW, I could do a full factory reset to be safer, or I could just wait it out and stay offline until we know more about the cause.
I'd...
In the UK it's arguable that it isn't illegal at all, unless you consider a civil wrong to be "illegal." You can't be criminally prosecuted but it potentially leaves the door open to Nintendo to sue you (won't happen).

I found it funny cause many many years ago, had a roommate in college that did this same dumbass branding of the school logo, but it didn't look anything like it after it healed. Just looked like a birthmark.
