Hardware Help! What's causing this interference on my backlit GBA?

I just assume your description so maybe I'm wrong, but I think the problem might be occur by LCD cable port on the GBA board got loosen in center. Try put some force with finger in the center that I marked red dot, and see if screen changed. BTW if this IS the problem, it's very hard to fix.

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

I know what your saying. If the matter IS actually so called "Ghosting(=image retention)", it needs the modification yes. But the specific matter that NPlayer said was not the "Ghosting". It's the interlacing line issue and it does not need any mod. In any LCD screen operation, LCD need...

That's whats called "interlace line". Ghosting(aka image retention) is totally different problem, and it can be adjustable. Turn the potentiometer slowly for proper interlace frequence.

Hardware 40 pin GBA with white tab LCD perfect solution!

If you have Brown tab LCD and 40 pin GBA, you should use plain regular cheap ribbon(type "A" exactly. no chips on cable). OP modification or type "B" ribbon is only needed when you using 40 pin GBA with White tab LCD. I do. It looks like fine and working.

Hardware Problem with aftermarket AGS101 screen

when i mess with 40 pin gba, i try to find if there is magical short jumper. things like "revc to gnd" stuff. then some pin to gnd makes screen just like that, now i forgot but it was kind of not important pins like LDR#/LDB#. so if there is any jump/short on the board, remove that would be one...

Hardware Problem with aftermarket AGS101 screen

i think i am too late, but it's neither LCD nor POT problem. it is because connection is bad. i saw this issue when i worked various jump/short pins and legs for finding correct connections for 40 pin GBA with white tap LCD. i am sure this is not the hardware parts broken. it is either wrong...

    Hardware "Soft" L & R Triggers - No "click"

original GBA shoulder buttons are "non-click" switch. fyi, "non-click" term in switch doesnt mean it is not clicking. zero clicking like sony dualshock 4 trigger or xbox 360 trigger buttons are called "linear". non-click means clicking, but smoother than usual clicking. original shoulder...

thats because it does not enough grounded the front housing. you have to cut the guideline. i saw someone even using soldering iron for melt that line surely.

Hardware 40 pin GBA with white tab LCD perfect solution!

103 is actually CPU pin number marking. the pin you mentioned is P2-Vee. look the board closer. and of course, you have to remove P2-Vee to GND mod or any other mod about AGS-101 LCD, before do this method. P1 to DA1 for add more backlight brightness mod also working with this method.

Thank you for sharing your experience. it seems i little late for reply, but anyway. for "B" cable interlace issue : a. "B" cable uses two (what so called) same fixed value resistor for making REVC. original VCOM volt will be bypass(it means internal pot no longer works). b. REVC must be...

Hardware Do all GBA cartridge batteries eventually leak?

like DinohScene said, it usually doesnt leak but ran out. normally button type batteries are designed for using many years, so it designed for least harmful for devices. btw ran out catridges are not hold save anymore, but still can play without save feature. though, many of late manufactured...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

AGS-101 backlight runs with voltage called "VDD5". it's 34th line of the LCD. it runs normally without any soldering and solder this 34th VDD5 to that famous DA1 point makes brighter. so, obviously you can do what you want. in this situation, lowest voltage of LCD-side-VDD5 need is...

    Hardware Weird AGB-001 need advice

i believe it's switch issue. GBA must be switched off correctly for next time turn on. for ie, it doesn't automatically turn on GBA with just remove batteries and put again while switch on. it must be turn off and on with switch. intended behavior. also that switch design is imperfect. many...

usually using left leg of DA1 for backlight boost. and if you notice interlace line, adjust the potentiometer near right side of cartridge. for maximize interlace visibility, move your character vertically while playing any RPG.
