Homebrew How would you feel about music albums on the Nintendo DS?

When I only had a DS and those specialized media players were expensive, my DSlite was my portable media player. Moonlight and DS Organizer were powerful software for that mean. If we were in 2006 I'd say you would actually profit from this, but today with smartphones, YouTube, etc I don't think so.

Backdoor in `xz` found, affects ssh (linux remote desktop connections)

Here is the catch: the attacker compromised liblzma (library of compression algorithms) which is used by sshd (remote desktop). At some point in sshd execution It will call a function in liblzma to uncompress something and that is the point where the malicious code takes action. Yes. If someone...

Backdoor in `xz` found, affects ssh (linux remote desktop connections)

A backdoor was found in Linux most used compression library: liblzma, affecting the SSH Server service (sshd). https://www.wired.com/story/jia-tan-xz-backdoor/ https://boehs.org/node/everything-i-know-about-the-xz-backdoor https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2024-3094 You can check if you are...

    Error when compiling libNDS rom

Those are linking errors, which means the linker (in this case the program 'ld') was not able to find some required file needed to finish the linking process. For example, the routine '_start' is the first function executed by the program and has the task of seting up the environment (initialize...

Some regions of the touchscreen are imprecise on a DS Lite

So I have just spoken with the previous owner and she said there was no screen replacement and the touchscreen have always been a little 'off'. She got it brand new so it is possible that this unity was faulty from factory or she damaged the screen on early usage. I looked into some digitizers...

Some regions of the touchscreen are imprecise on a DS Lite

Hello, folks. So recently I ran across an used DS lite that was given to me. The overall health of the system was excellent at a first look: 1. The shell is in excellent shape. No visible scratches or anything. 2. The battery seems to be working very well even after years of not being turned...

Emulation Homebrew Emulator The DSi deserves a better SNES emulator

Isn't ZSNES written in very optimized i486 asm to the point that It wasn't ever ported to anything other than 32-bit x86?

Homebrew Homebrew app Homebrew rom wont run on real hardware

Emulators in general are known to not be precise enough for development. I had issues with homebrew crashing on real hardware because multiple calls to fatFsInit(), or incorrect alingmnent on dmaCopy, whereas melonDS simply swallowed everything and the ROM ran fine. I suggest you to bissect...

Homebrew Is anybody working on any new PDF readers for the DS/DSi?

Back when I had a DSLite there was no solution other than convert each page to jpg. Even there the low resolution made things reallh difficult. But I guess you are in better luck using your phone or getting an old Android 4 tablet.

ROM Hack What are the "must play" ROM hacks for nds?

If you like RTS there is also ports of Command & Conquer Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert, however the First requires memory expansion and Second a DSi.

Hacking Homebrew Misc How to Debug an NDS homebrew?

Grab an emulador like MelonDS and use nocashWrite function, available on both arm9 and arm7. The output shows in the terminal rather than on screen.

Emulation Homebrew Emulator The DSi deserves a better SNES emulator

I also agree that the state of SNES emulation in DS is not good, yet SneMulDS is quite okay-ish and you can always run for ports of SNES games in Genesis or even GBA. Now I am quite sure that SNES emulation on DSi can be improved a lot. The CPU speed of DSi is quite comparable to the Nintendo...

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
