Understanding the impact of region changes in 2023

Regarding 3DS download play, I just saw this: https://github.com/LumaTeam/Luma3DS/pull/1461 Apparently the region locking for that is removed. Anyone else able to test?

Understanding the impact of region changes in 2023

Just for clarity, it's the local play for 3DS games that wouldn't work, right? I'm assuming NDS download play is still possible because that's region-free. For DSi-enhanced games, would the region locking on those prevent local play between consoles of different regions?

Tutorial Create an NDS-Compatible Hotspot on Linux

I didn't read the all the replies to this thread before writing this, so sorry if anyone has mentioned this in advance. Looks like your mileage may vary heavily. Apparently it's rare for AP (master) mode to be supported with various wifi adapters under Linux. Some cards that used to support it...

Hacking Feedback Hardware Homebrew Misc Wii corrupted my 1TB External HDD, Computer doesn't recognize HDD at all, and there's no space data on it:

I guess I'll throw my two cents in. YMMV greatly. If you can get a Linux Live USB, DVD, or even CD going on your computer (assuming you don't use Linux at all), you can check for one specific thing rather easily. If your external HDD's controller is functioning even a little bit, the Linux...

Wii Shop revival service "RiiShop" enters public beta

You're right. I meant to say "without hosting any actual WiiWare or VC games". I didn't write clearly earlier. That's a cool idea. HBB is very slick and nice, but still has some bugs I remember coming across back in '09, as far as using it nowadays goes, using the OSC build of it. But it's been...

Wii Shop revival service "RiiShop" enters public beta

This could have been a cool "functional archive" type thing. Like "reviving" the Wii Shop, letting it's features be usable or simulated (like adding points), without actually hosting anything or enabling the download of WiiWare or VC. I've only seen a small showcase of it, assuming that that was...

Homebrew [DS(i)/3DS] TWiLight Menu++ - GUI for DS(i) games, and DS(i) Menu replacement

For game patching, try Flips. It should work on macOS. I haven't used it on Pokemon games, but I've used it to patch ACWW in the past on Linux.

Homebrew [DS(i)/3DS] TWiLight Menu++ - GUI for DS(i) games, and DS(i) Menu replacement

If you mean the icon I'd see on some files, I thought NetHackDS didn't have one. There's a couple of homebrews I use that didn't seem to have one, like Lemmings DS. I attach pictures just in case, showing the game on console SD, and on slot-1 SD. Twilight Menu is launched from console SD, and I...

Homebrew [DS(i)/3DS] TWiLight Menu++ - GUI for DS(i) games, and DS(i) Menu replacement

I haven't tried checking it on console SD. Just flashcard SD, so I'll take a look. Yes, I'm using version 3.6.6. And no, SDK version shows as 3 question marks. It's properly detected as homebrew when I launch the card directly from 3DS home menu, without launching console-side Twilight Menu...

Homebrew Is anybody working on any new PDF readers for the DS/DSi?

More on topic, it probably doesn't help that historically, PDFs are a WYSIWYG format. I wonder if text reflowing capabilities might be useful on portables for PDFs in the same way, potentially. Even on phones. Seems like a tough task though. Besides KOreader, I don't know if that exists. And...

Homebrew [DS(i)/3DS] TWiLight Menu++ - GUI for DS(i) games, and DS(i) Menu replacement

Good to know! Link to NetHackDS: https://github.com/fancypantalons/NetHack/releases I'm trying to play using version 3.6.6. Edited the brain fart

Homebrew [DS(i)/3DS] TWiLight Menu++ - GUI for DS(i) games, and DS(i) Menu replacement

I have been having problems with NetHackDS on my Ace3DS X flashcards. I use this on a N3DS. I recently switched to using a 64 GB microSD for slot 1, formatted fat32 with 32k clusters (via the command "mkfs.fat -s 64 -F 32 /dev/mySDcard" on Linux). But I also have the same problem on the 4 GB...

Homebrew [Release] GodMode9i - All Access File Browser for the DS(i) (and 3DS)

I have the same problem on my N3DS. I have Twilight Menu installed as my primary kernel on an Ace3DS X flashcard. I use the NDS version of GM9i so I can have it on my flashcard SD. I cannot see the keyboard when renaming, or creating new files or folders. It's "there" if you blindly press the...

N3DS with 128 GB SD card: "Cannot display the software on the microSD card. The microSD card could not be accessed."

It's definitely worth checking to see if your card was formatted properly. Some tools will default to formatting SDXC cards as exFat instead of FAT32. These cards also typically came pre-formatted as exFat, so you'll need to format them to FAT32 yourself before using them with the 3DS. Or use...

Homebrew misadventures with installing 600+ .cias

Ignoring the drama and shaming... You can install more than 300 titles, yes. However, you're going to run into a lot of issues. But if you really want to do this, use RocketRobz' 3DS Bank application to do so. This will avoid most, but not all the issues, you could potentially come across. I...
