    Gaming GBA no power

Q5 was definitely bad but the system still isn't booting. Still not getting power on the bottom right leg of Q5 (needs to be 3v). I've done more volt chasing and I'm at the limit of my knowledge. I've been using a schematic and I would appreciate a little help. I need to know how the power...

    Gaming GBA no power

I was about to go to bed, but it was bothering me. I found out why my readings were inconsistent. When the Transistor is in circuit the continuity changes depending on the power switch's position. The working board has a loose power switch, which was throwing me curve balls all last night. So...

    Gaming GBA no power

Replaced the CAPs, no change. It's very frustrating to see where the voltage drops but have no idea why. I need a crash course on transistors, the faulty board's transistors' continuity doesn't match the working motherboard. Also my testing don't reflect what I've seen online. I assume...

Yeah the fuse is good, and getting power too Q5. I lose it there. I'm getting weak power in the transistor next to it. Would bad CAPs do something similar? Buying online, and getting junk.

I guess bad corrosion is common on these GBAs? This is my second bad board out of 4. The last one had a bad CPU. I'd like to save this one if I can. Did the typical and cleaned up as much corrosion as I could, checked the fuse, and repaired the faulty power switch. I am getting 3V out of the...

    Gaming Pokemon Sapphire PCB help

I got it!!! Thanks for the help. I knew it had to be a short, and after literally tracing the entire board I found it. I looked at everything so I decided I'd retrace my steps and bingo. I had the smallest solder bridge next to my trace repair. It's now a fully functioning Pokemon Sapphire...

    Gaming Pokemon Sapphire PCB help

I finally got around to looking at it again and still can't find the fault. It looks like the traces go in and out of the small holes in the PCB. (The holes next to silkscreen text "C1" and "U3"). It makes it very hard to trace. I lose sight and I'm not sure where to test for continuity, be nice...

Gaming Megaman Battle Network 1 GBA Save Failed

That third chip, LV2416, is that what tells the SRAM to run from the battery? Can a fault in that chip cause issues like what the OP is having? OP did you get any further in troubleshooting?

    Gaming Pokemon Sapphire PCB help

I bought a GBA SP motherboard in non-working condition that came with a free broken copy of pokemon sapphire. Apparently this copy of Sapphire "fried" the SP motherboard. I got the SP board working (it had blown the F2 fuse). I am new to all this so for the sake of learning I wanted to see if I...
