Wood uses the .nds.sav extension by default while other flashcarts just use .sav. You can either change the settings in the wood menu to read .sav or you can rename the existing .sav files to .nds.sav.
Speaking of non-new models I'd prefer the xl variant over the og one. The og gets scratches really easily and then there is the problem with the top screen getting damaged by the bottom screen
Friendly reminder we've been waiting for some bug fixes to promised features for the EZ-Flash Jr for over 2 years now. I'm hoping they can fix the Parallel up at least, but I wouldn't specifically hold my breath for it.
Maybe @Technicmaster0 is right with: I don't think that any ds games used battery backed sram saves.
I don't know the DS cartridges from inside, i thought they used the same tech as most other cartridge consoles.

I'm not entirely sure how RTS works in detail. But as far as I know, both the flashcart...
It's not the same menu. There have also been other flashcarts with RTS in the past (e.g. cyclods ievolution, supercard dsone/dstwo and I think also M3i) and cards without RTS (original DSTT, DS-X and many more). The R4 with RTS that you linked a...
