    Quite the contrary, they actually changed a ton: https://switchbrew.org/wiki/16.0.0 Any changes or removals of IPC commands alone mandate a bump to the major version, as they're api breakages. User facing stuff is completely irrelevant (except if it causes breakages).

    Touchscreen/card reader stuff isn't as simple as 'v1 vs v2'. Icosa and Iowa both have multiple touchscreen types and there is overlap between them, you just kinda gotta hope you get a card reader that matches your touchscreen. Same with screens themselves btw.

    Atmosphere reimplements certain components of the Switch's operating system. You could port it but you'd be running a different OS that's not going to be able to run any regular 3ds processes (including basically the entire OS). Also none of the switch's overclocking stuff would apply.
